Mark took the letter and inclined his head in thanks. He opened the letter and scanned its contents, without any expression on his face.
"Invite the damsel in." he said to Dinadan. "I shall give her my reply to take back to her lady in person."

Dinadan bowed his head again and made his way to the door, opening it.
"His grace would like to give you his reply in person." Dinadan told the woman.

"Tell your lady I would be most pleased to accept her invitation." said Mark, not unkindly. "Indeed I feel we will have much to discuss."

The woman trembled, her hands shaking and her expression indicating that she was on the verge of tears. She cringed from Mark and Dinadan.
"I...I will t-tell her," she stammered. "Is t-that all?"

Dinadan looked at her, trying to determine why she was behaving so strangely.

The woman's demeanor indicates the fact that it is something about the specific situation that unnerves her, and Mark in particular. She also seemed afraid of her mistress.

Dinadan noticed that the woman seemed afraid of Mark more than he and Tristan. He decided he would have to look for her later and ask her why she was afraid of the king.

"Passing strange." remarked Tristram, when she had gone. He shrugged and returned to studying the chessboard. Mark raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

Dinadan scratched his head. "I have seen many a Damosel, yet never one so distressed. One would think we were a group of monsters, rather than the good christian knights we are. Perhaps she thinks monsters are knights and knights are monsters." Dinadan mused. "That would explain much..."
