I enjoyed Pellinore but he was rather dim. Funny and appropriate for a children's novel but not great for someone who likes a different take. I admit I preferred the Pellinore in the cartoon adaptation.
I didn't like how Morgan was made almost negligible and it bothered me a little how Arthur ended up fairly weak.

Yeah, Morgan seems to end up negligible in most adaptations that I've read. It's quite unfortunate.

If you can bear to read 20th century adaptations with feminist leanings, read The Mists of Avalon and Daughter of Tintagel. She's the main character in both of those.
