There is nothing in the room that explains the sickness in the realm but Urias does find a sorceror's grimoire, a bottle of wine and some basic food.

Urias pockets the spell book to look through it later. He exits the room and heads up the stairs next.

Urias steps through an arch on the next floor. There is again a door. He realises the patter, each floor seems to hold a single room.

He cautiously opens up this door as well and peers inside.

This time the room is empty of living creatures but Urias can do a search if he wishes. Bones of dead animals lie on the floor, perhaps the wolf's prey.

Urias does indeed search the room, weary of traps. He searches for yet more things to help him learn who is doing these things.

Urias realises that there are no traps, in this room at least. The room appears to be part library, part study. He finds yet more sorceror's tomes, animal bones and indications of old rituals long done, such as a scrying dish. He also sees a seer's runes, star charts and all manner of arcane items. He also finds old bronze coins from Roman days scattered around. They bear the heads of the Emperors Claudius and Nero. The person who lived or lives here is clearly a sorceror of some kind and likely a powerful one.

Urias leaves the room after looking at some of the books and heads up to the next floor.

The door to the next floor is locked. Urias can't get in through any normal means.

Urias attempts at unlocking it with his magic so he can continue snooping around.

Urias manages to heat the lock and melt it. When he pushes the door, it swings open. This time the furnishings are plain and basic. Skeletons of dead men lay on the rotten remnants of was once paliasses covered with blankets. Bowls and cups are littered about and there is a table of rotting wood crawling with maggots. The whole place stinks of decay. There is not a shred of flesh on the bones of the men but scraps of homespun cloth indicate that these are servants. On the table is a silver cup engraved with the crest of an eagle in the Roman style. About an inch of sour, mouldy wine rests in the bottom of the cup.

Urias covors his mouth with his robe at all of the death and decay in this room alone, he does not spend time searching it and closes the door to head up to the next floor.

The door to the next room is unlocked but a swarm of bats launch themselves at him. They are larger than normal vbats with fangs and Urias knows at once they will be dangerous.

Urias launches a fireball at them hoping to catch them all if not a majority of them to prevent them from doing harm to them.

Urias doesn't manage to hit many of the bats but it does startle even the ones who aren't hit and that gives him enough time to shut the door if he doesn't intend to explore the room more fully.
