"It is a wonder none of the others caught on, authorities in the Christian faith always reminded me of Hawks, they never missed a thing you did wrong, which is more than can be said for some of their flock, if you will pardon me generalising," he said, and smiled at Morgan again, "I for one am glad you were not though, or I would not have been able to go on this glory hunt with you."

"A fine compliment," she said, tossing her hair over her shoulders. "I thank you, Sir Lancelot. I would be a different woman had I been caught out or devoted myself to the Christian faith. I can scarcely imagine it. You are right, though, we were very lucky. I believe it was meant to be. And this too. It's a fine day and I know we will triumph."
She gazed ahead at the little village. It looked a bit forlorn in the middle of nowhere.

"Of course we will, I am here." Lancelot said, with another smirk and followed Morgan's gaze, "Are you sure you don't want me to go on ahead, I can come back and warn you if it is ghastly and we can go around," He joked.

She laughed.
"No, of course not. It just looks so sad, so small and rundown. Surely your brother came this way. But if so, why would he not come back? It doesn't make sense."
The village was getting closer as they rode and they could see that the houses could do with better care. It was only a small village and looked to be poor.

"I am sure answers will present themselves," Lancelot said and followed Morgan's lead into the village, once inside he got down off his horse and held his hand out to help Morgan off of hers, looking round the village as he did for people who may be there.

Morgan accepted Lancleot's help with a smile. There was no-one to be seen in the village at present. That was clearly an oddity.
The rest of their group arrived moments later.
"There must be someone here," Morgan said. "Ah, look, smoke from the chimney!"
She indicated one of the houses nearby.
"Care to enquire, Sir Lancelot?"

"With pleasure, My Lady," Lancelot said, and went to the house with the smokng chimney and knocked firmly on the door with his right hand, his sword had was on the hilt of his sword, you could never be too careful.

When the door opened, a woman stood there with a pair of children peering out from behind her.
"We paid yer what we could," she said, shrinking back and shooing the children away. "Leave us be or we'll starve."

"You've paid us nothing and we have not asked for it." Lancelot said, hiding his slight confusion, though his interest was piqued, "Who did you pay?"

"Ain't you one of the bandits? Them foreigners? You ain't one of our lord's men. I know them. We paid our taxes to our lord and then we paid to be left in peace by the men that come round her recent like. That's s'posed to make us be left alone. There's nothing left."

"I am Sir Lancelot, a Knight for King Arthur, you need not fear us or anyone I travel with." He said, trying to assure her, he'd have looked round to morgan, but it would make him seem less authoritative in the eyes of this woman. "What Foreigners do you speak of?"

"They be bandits," she said. "Made us pay for safety. We tried not to but they stole our young women and killed few of my men. Took my sister. She was still a maid."
The woman was perhaps in her twenties, Lancelot realised, but only on close inspection. She had seemed a decade older at first.
"Oh, sir, there was another knight of Arthur's here! He went to speak to our lord about the bandits."

"Was his name Sir Galadah?" Lancelot asked, even if they could get nothing out of this place other than information, it was better than nothing. Not that this tiny hamlet mattered in the grand scheme of their quest in Lancelot's mind.

"Aye, it was. Old Brigid telled him about the bandits and sent her grandson off to show the way."
"You knights have awful funny names," the little girl said behind the woman.
"Hush dear. You know Sir Galahad, sir?"

"He is my brother." Lancelot admitted and then looked round to where the little girl was, "which may explain the funny names" he went on with a smile, "Could you tell me the direction they went in?" he asked speaking the the woman again
