"A frequent sinner?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, "It is not the Christian values I have a problem with, I think honesty, chastity, and decency are all very admirable, as well as temperance, it is the belief in just the one God. I cannot entertain the prospect of it all falling to one. But tell me, what is your worst vice?" The answer was simple though he paused as if in thought. His voice was low again not wanting others to hear. "The company of fair ladies...I admire them so. Chastity is too great of a burden to bear some times. I find temptation at every turn. Prayer does not seem to aid the situation. Were it not for the distraction of quests and adventure I fear I would be a more frequent sinner." "Now that I have told you my worst vice, what about you my lady?"

Dina had unfortunately just taken a drink and coughed as she spluttered with laughter.
"All your talk of sins and sinners brother." she said once she recovered. "Would it not be simpler to just accept human nature, if it was truly a son why would we be made so?"

"There are many trials that we must face throughout our lives, only the most devout are worthy of passing through the gates of heaven." He answered though clearly he was only repeating what he had been taught.
"What of you sister? What are your worst vices. He flashed a playfully wicked grin.

"Do you really want to know what your little sister gets up to?" Dina asked innocently, taking another sip of her drink and actually managing to drink it properly.

"Why sister, have you not been a proper maid recently? Father would be most displeased to hear." He chuckled

"Yes, of course. Though I would sooner forget my part in his siring, the boy is the closest thing to kin I have in this world. Excuse the musings and self-pity of an old fool. I am grateful and honored by the part I was allowed to play, but it is hard not to wonder where I would be now if I had never laid eyes on Clarent." Merlin replied with a tone of genuine curiosity rather than bitterness. "I suppose it is. I have often wondered how my own life would be different if I had spent more time outside of Avalon. But I am content. I think, Merlin, that your life is richer for the part you have played in the lives of Arthur and Uther," Viviane said.

"You mistake my meaning whelp and are making a fool of yourself in front of your captors. I meant that you lack the strength to court this woman. That advice was for your own good, trust me. Regarding your lands, if they are are made up of men like you, an army of scarecrows could reclaim them within a fortnight." Sir Ironside replied, allowing his mouth to do the violent work his sword was forbidden to. "My father once told me that strength is drawn to strength. If you truly wanted to rally men under your banner, you would have cut the throats of those that made you a prisoner your first night here. No one is willing to die for one that begs like a spineless cur. Now silence your mouth and end your womanly whining before more misfortune befalls you!" (Intimidate-Expert) Sagramore flinched and moved away from Ironside. He was secretly fuming and would dearly have liked to duel Ironside but he dared not provoke the man in Arthur's presence. He knew he could not cause a scene now. "I did not beg and I never will," he said. "I will be a better man than you and walk away now before blood is spilled between us." He turned and stalked away with nothing more than a glance at Hallewes.

"I am just as surprised as you. But in a pleasant way." His mouth formed a strange smile between his haggard cheeks. "You're far more than I was told."

"You are kind to comfort and old man so." Merlin replied reaching into the pocket of his robes.
When his hand reappeared a tiny seed lay in his palm. He mumbled something under his breath and stamped his rowen-wood staff softly. Before their eyes, the small seed went through days of growth in a few seconds. When it was finished, a flawless white white lily lay in his hand. It was a simple trick, still one of his favorites. Merlin offered Viviane the flower with a youthful twinkle in his eyes.

"No, a better man would have his kingdom." Ironside replied cruelly as the knight stormed away, before smiling guiltily at Hallewes.

Viviane took the flower with a smile.
"A clever trick, Merlin, though we both know it is a small thing compared to what you can do. But I thank you nonetheless for the kindness."

Sagramore was fuming but he ignored Ironside and walked to the furthest corner of the hall.

"If anyone should be grateful, it is I.", Merlin replied with a respectful bow of his head, "Now I should return to Arthur's side to ensure our new king is not torn apart by sycophants so early in his reign. It was a pleasure talking to you Viviane."

The feast continued a while longer, conversation flowed, and then there was a brief flash of light everyone was temporarily blinded. Music sprang up around the room, a different sound to the lively airs played the castle musicians. This music was delicate and uplifting, almost like a hymn.
When the feast guests could appear again, a young woman could be seen entering the hall. She was ethereal in appearance, her hair almost white, her skin glowing unnaturally and her robe shimmering silver. In her hand she bore a great vessel, a huge golden chalice gleaming with sapphires and filled with wine red as blood. She seemed to float through the air until she glided onto the table and alighted there. She held out the great vessel to Arthur, who was white-faced and bright-eyed. The maiden held it to the King's lips.
"Drink, my lord."
Her voice was high and sweet like the voice of an angel. Arthur drank and as he did so his expression was filled with pure happiness. He sat still in his seat as if he had been struck dumb. The maiden called to the guests, beckoning them with a smile.
"Drink, my lords and ladies. Tonight your cup will be filled with that which you most desire to drink."
She turned and then began to float up into the air towards the ceiling and then there was another bright flash, blinding everyone. It was a moment before the guests could see again and then voices rang out "The Grail, the Grail!"

Dagonet, looked down at his now full goblet before taking a small drink to see what it was. It was a definite improvement to what ever was in his cup last and he enjoyed it immensely. Yet he was not able to name what it was.
