A prehistoric circle of stones, their original purpose unknown. Now a druidic settlement.

The party arrived at the Giants Ring and Hallewes stepped forward first. She had never had a quarrel with the druids and said a greeting to all who may have been listening.

The settlement was guarded by a druid with long hair down to his waist and a beard to match. Both hair and beared were dark brown and the man was tanned from exposure to the sun. He eyed the strangers with suspicious curiosity.
"Who are you? What business have you with us?"

"My name is Hallewes, I come from Dumonia, with my companions Sir Ironside and Meldryn Mwar."

"And what would you have of us, Hallewes? We do not welcome strangers here at the Giant's Ring."

"We are seeking shelter and help." Hallewes replied. "We are strangers to this land, but all follow the old gods, and are on a quest of sorts."

"Oh. And why should we help you? What's in it for us"?
The druid seemed distinctly unfriendly.

"I would happily discuss that with your village elder." Hallewes answered. "Maybe they would appriciate the terms."

"Village elder?" The man bristled. "Clearly you are ignorant of the druidic customs. We are led by the Chief Druid, foolish woman! No, I see no reason to allow you into our home."

"Then have him come to me then." She said, her own anger brushed with her tone. "Clearly I am but simply because I have never lived as one of you before."

He looked down his nose at her.
"That is not our fault. Do you think I may simply command our leader to attend upon some arrogant woman he has never met? I do not. You ought send a humble request, and a gift, and then the Chief Druid may consent to see you. But if you don't improve your manners then I may not even ask him."

Hallewes smiled sweetly. "Then will you humbily request that he meets a stupid woman that wishes to learn from him."

"I will. And can you offer a gift, stranger? That would be a lot of help."
He still eyed her with dislike but not quite as coldly as before.

Hallewes glanced back at her little band to see if they had indeed brought anything worth giving as a gift.

Meldryn Mawr shook his head.
"That did not occur to me. Perhaps we ought to find a gift and then come back."
