Galahad leads the way, keeping them off busy roads, and in general away from the population if it can be avoided without losing a great deal of time.

Neither of his companions were inclined to make conversation. Seren was nervous of Galahad and had agreed to go with his group chiefly because she hated confrontation and knew it would be worse for the others if she did not, and Sagramore, who was normally talkative, knew now was not the time for idle chatter.
After several hours on the road, however, they realise they see men and horses up ahead.

Galahad tried to gauge if the men had seen them or if they had time to hide off the side of the road.

Despite his best efforts to gauge the behaviour of the men ahead, Galahad has no idea if the men have seen them. He must decide what to do next.

"Off the road." Galahad told them. "And hurry!"
He tried to determine how many men there were.

Galahad estimates about twenty men, likely more than his group can handle, even with Seren's magical abilities, none of which he has ever witnessed in action. His two companions quickly head off the road, but the trouble is, Sagramore goes left, Seren right. Since the men are directly ahead and he doesn't want to go back they way they have come, Galahad must choose which direction to head in.

Galahad went in the same direction as Seren, figuring Sagramore would be more capable of defending himself of the two.

As they galloped off, however, one of the men started riding towards them. Then, of course, others did too. Seren glanced over her shoulder and let out a cry of fright.

Galahad knew that if they continued to flee, then Sagramore would surely perish.
"Do whatever you can to help." He called to Seren in a tone that indicated he did not think it would be much before turning to meet the riders head on.

Galahad, if you are determined to fight them, I'll need to make you a fight thread?

Yes, that would be good.
