One of the men tried to hit him with his club, since his hands were free.

He manages to do so but the men continue to swear at him and try to get free.

Urias conjures up the spell to entrap them further in a cone of rock up to their shoulder so that they stop flailing around.

The spell succeeds and all the men are trapped. One of the men takes up space on the bridge but the rest are just behind him. But Urias and the others can now pass.

Urias steps aside and lets the rest of his group pass through before he goes over the bridge himself.

They make it safely over the bridge. The squire looks at the trapped men.
"Will they be like that forever? Will it kill them?"

"It might, if they do not break out of it. But once we are a safe distance away I will undo the spell and free them, hopefully this teaches them a lesson and they stop trying to charge people to cross a bridge."

Sir Niall looked over at them.
"It's quite common here for men to charge a toll for a bridge, though not to that extent. Mostly's its just a copper or the like. The local lords like to make money in any way they can."

"It is not natural to charge for something that should be free." Urias states, "If anything I could have just created another bridge instead of causing trouble."

"Another bridge? Ah, I see," Sir Niall mused. "But you see, they would have demanded payment for you to cross that too. Such men are like that. It was plain that those men are outlaws. No king's men would charge so harshly."
The Irish knight sighed.
"Perhaps you are right, sir druid, but you are not used to the ways of the nobility. No lord or king worth his salt can do without an army but fighting men cost money to feed. No matter, let us press on. There should not be any more bridges along this way."

"I could have made the bridge anywhere, including where those men would be unable to see it." Urias says. "But I feel that is enough of such talk."

"Indeed. Your talents are truly wondrous," Sir Niall mused. "I had no interest in your kind, before, but now I am learning to respect your powers."

"Thank you Sir Nial, but those are just some of the things that I am capable of doing. I think I could do much more if the need arises for it." Urias states plainly.

"Indeed. I hope you are never driven to it." Sir Niall answered. "But let us press on. My lady waits and so does your quest. You know, I feel in a much better mood now. Those bandits have been taught a sharp lesson and the way ahead looks clear. I almost feel like singing."
The boy leaned close to Urias and whispered "He must have been at the drink. He only sings when he's drunk."
Sir Niall was right about one thing, though. The road ahead was indeed clear. They were past the forest for now and there was an expanse of fairly flat land with low vegetation and the odd tree, which would make it far easier for them to spot danger, if it existed.
