The two men face off. Ironside has to contend with an unfamilar weapon as well as a new way of fighting, but Bran is plainly at home with the sword in his hand. Ironside tries to strike but doesn't manage to hit the Irishman. "Let's see how good you are at defending," Bran suggests. He darts forward and deals a heavy blow to Ironside's shoulder. Result - heavy hit to Ironside "Want to continue?" Bran asked. OOC - reply in this thread please

"In the Red Lands we train until one man can't stand." Ironside said through gritted teeth. "I'll not be changing the tradition now."

"Fine then. We shall continue," Bran replied.
The Irishman moved forward faster than any man his size had the right to do. Ironside did his best to parry but was dealt a blow to his leg.
Result - average wound to Ironside
OOC - sorry, you are rolling badly :-( But I guess it fits the context pretty well!

Ironside roared in anger and pressed the attack, swinging savagely. Without the defensive benefit of a shield he knew his only hope was to use his size and ferocity to his advantage.

Round 3
Ironside runs forward, hoping to overwhelm the Irishman, but he's out of luck. Bran moves aside, and as Ironside is carried forward by his own momentum, strikes him in the leg. Were they fighting for real, Ironside would be badly wounded by now.
Result = average wound to Ironside
Round 4
Angry and undeterred by his failure, Ironside immediately spins round and, raising his sword high over his head, attempts to swing it down at Bran's shoulder. Bran's parry jars both their hands.
Result = no strike for either combatant
"You're getting better," Bran observed.

Round 5
Unfortunately for Ironside, Bran again manages to wound him as he drives forward with a hard blow to his shoulder.
Result - average wound to Ironside.
Round 6
Snarling, Ironside retaliates with a barrage of blows that don't qutte manage to land but he is clearly learning better how to manage the sword.
Result - no wounds
Round 7
Bran
Bran manages to disengage from Ironside's frenzied attack. This time he deals the knight a heavy blow
Result - heavy hit to Ironside, he is knocked unconscious.
Bran calls over one of the nearby men, who takes a look at the unconscious knight.
"Any bones broken?" Bran asks.
"None. He'll be fine, once he wakes."
Healing roll - success
Final result - Ironside gains a quarter level raise to fighting. I have a tally of this plus previous bonuses earned and will let you know when he's back up to Master.
