Skills will largely be based upon the character class but there will be room for customisation within that.
Please note that all five classes will be open to both male and female characters. Female knights didn't exist in Arthurian legend but this is my game so I'm allowing it, but I ask that anyone who wants to play a female knight work with me to choose a suitable background. However, it would be more difficult for a female knight to serve as personal champion to another character.
Classes are as follows:
Knight/Lady Knight - a skilled warrior who will be sworn to a king or queen. The knight may go on quests, fight in tournaments and declare himself a lady's champion. If the knight is black-hearted he may try to steal another knight's lady or turn robber but these paths may lead to danger and disgrace.
Sorceror/Sorceress - a sorceror is skilled in the magic arts and is able to bend others to their will as well as enchanting objects. Some sorcerors have some ability to command the elements but they are less skilled than druids. A particularly skilled sorceror may impersonate other people. The sorceror has the choice of whether to use his magic to help others or for personal gain.
Priest/Nun - a priest or nun is a character sworn to the religious life. He/she must be a Christian. Highly educated, they may serve as advisors at their lord's court. They are also skilled in the healing arts.
Druid/Druidess - a druid is part priest, part sorceror. He or she must be a Pagan. Druids have a different magical focus to sorcerors. Their magic allows them to command the elements. They can also commune with animals. Some druids are skilled in the healing arts.
Courtier - a courtier lives at their lord's court. Skilled in the social arts, they may serve as companions to their lord or lady, as well as ambassadors or bards. A female courtier may use her seductive skills to bend a knight to her will. A male courtier might try persuade a lady to betray her knight.
