I just throw up that I would consider being Mordred but I'm putting it in here as I dont actually want to reserve and stopping someone else.

Hi guys.
Tall, it's first come first served so if you do decide in favour of Mordred, I suggest claiming him. I don't think we will get everyone from the Westeros RPs playing, at least not to begin with so I think there are more than enough possible characters to go round.
Zack/Roland, I wanted to start at the beginning of Arthur's reign and have Morgause be young, so her sons wouldn't work as grown men. I included Gawain because he's the most famous but I will be happy to put Gareth in as well if you want him. Lot would still be his father but Morgause can't be his mother. I'll probably still leave out Agravaine and Gaheris because they aren't hugely important in the scheme of things.

No worries, Gawain will suffice for now. Was just surprised Gareth ended up cut since I always loved the story of him defeating the Red Knight.

Ok, as long as you're happy. I want to give the players a say in how the site begins so as long as you don't ask me to do something I really don't want to do i.e. kill Morgan, you're fine to suggest anything you like. I'm going to mix the various stories about anyway. There's no reason why the Red Knght can't fight Gawain instead.

This old Arthurian RPG I played had a system of personality traits and passions that represented the character's behavior. For each pair of traits a player allocated 20 points. So a player wishing to be chaste might allocate 18 points to Chaste and 2 points to Lustful. Made roleplaying Arthurian knights interesting. I once played Gawain who had a Lustful trait of 18. He was always trying to seduce other players paramours which led to some situations with their husbands.
The character traits were: Chaste / Lustful Energetic / Lazy Forgiving / Vengeful Generous / Selfish Honest / Deceitful Just / Arbitrary Merciful / Cruel Modest / Proud Pious / Worldly Prudent / Reckless Temperate / Indulgent Trusting / Suspicious Valorous / Cowardly

Oh that's interesting. I don't want to overcomplicate the system but I could see a few of these being useful.
How did the system make sure that characters weren't either all extremes or all middle of the road? I think it would require each character to have a mix of some extreme traits and some more average .

Guys, just so you know, the first plotline WILL be a quest but I'm not going to tell you what it is yet.
I had 6 people plus myself vote in my poll at Bloodgrove so I'd like to get a few more people signed up before we start. Rowan has promised to play and I think Swede will too so I'm sure they will sign up soon enough and hopefully a few more too. But those of you who are already here are more than welcome to start creating your characters.

Hey gang, it's Geirrin. I'm currently looking over list of chars, should decide by end of day. As I mentioned I've only read Bernard Cornwell's trilogy on Arthur so I don't have a lot to go on. If anyone has any useful links please post them.

Hi Geirrin
Wiki is a good starting point. It's years since I read the Cornwell trilogy unfortunately but I have a bunch of other Arthurian books, both reference and fiction to hand. I'll look through my Favourites list to see what I can find. I know there are some Arthurian links there but it's massively untidy and in need of rearrangement so it might take a while. If there is anything particular you want to know, please tell me so I can look for specific information on that for you,
I'm envisioning this as a reworking of the legend so don't worry too much. I'm not going to follow any particular tale to the letter.

Also, I said it elsewhere but just to point out, I'd prefer knights to be chosen from the list but the other character types have only a few people listed so I'm very happy for characters in those classes to be invented if the existing ones won't work for you.

Cornwell's works were less about individuals quests and more about battles and trying to unite the christians and pagans under one realm.
Yeah I was looking at some stuff on the web. I'll just read up on the individual characters and see if one of them jumps out at me.

Cool! Cornwell's historical novels almost always are based around battles though I do remember there's a quest for the Grail and other sacred objects in one of them but as you say, not the main focus.
The one thing I need right now is a decent map showing the various kingdoms so I can modify it for our purposes. Unfortunately I was imagining the maps in the Cornwell novels but I don't have any of those with me right now although I do have a copy of Excalibur at home, so I will have to find another map somewhere.
