The land seemed fine, for now, but that changed as they got closer to the forest. When they could see the trees properly, many of them were gnarled and others were dead and rotting where they stood. As Urias and Bearic approached the outlying trees they smelt a terrible stench of rot.

Urias lands not far from the forest, He could tell that the forest and the land was sick here. He takes out his wooden bowl and fills it with water from his waterbag, to scry and to find the source of the land pollution.

Uias sees a dark castle beyond the forest. His vision zooms in and he sees the figure of a man sitting a throne in the tallest tower but he can't see the man's face. There is a general air of decay surrounding both the man and the castle.

Urias nods at seeing what appears to be the source, and turns the attention of the spell into the actual forest. He tries to see what type of creatures would still be alive in all of the rot and decay that would hinder them if they traveled through the forest.

There were the usual small creatures, rabbits and birds, foxes, mice, insects, snakes, but there were larger creatures too, such as wolves and bears. And maybe something else too. Urias felt a sense of unease as if there were some other creatures that he could not distinguish yet. Something dangerous.

*There are creatures in the forest that could possibly hinder our journey, creatures that may be dangerous. Though it also seems that the reason for this land being sick is a tower on the other side of it. If we go around it may take days or even months to reach the tower if we do not get lost. What do you think we should do?* Urias says to the bear standing beside him.

*We've had to go through it. We don't know this place and we could get lost if we try to go round. And we might get there quicker.*

*My thoughts exactly though be on your guard, it would not be good if we where to be caught off guard here. Urias sends back, *I will stay as a bird, so that way we might be able to pass through relatively unnoticed.*

*That is good* Bearic agreed.
A rumbling sound came from within him.
"*I'm hungry. Let us find food.*

*A bear has to eat. You know how grumpy I get when I'm hungry.* He walked on nonetheless, trudging into the depressing forest. Urias saw that it was no better from above the trees. If anything, the forest got darker and more foreboding the further he could see.

*Eat only as much as it takes for you to not be hungry, do not feast. He says in a warning tone. He continues on in the abysmal forest with each passing minute reminding himself that he is here to heal it, and consequently wondering how to achieve such a feat.

The forest was eerily quiet. Even though Urias suspected there were animals about, they were not moving about as frequently as in his own home. They didn't even see animlals fleeing from Bearic, as often happened. Bearic plodded grumpily onwards on the ground and then he sent up a message to Urias/
*I smell something. A creature.*

*Can you tell how close it is?* Urias sends back landing on a branch that gave him a good view of Bearic and the surrounding areas.

*No, but I can smell it. It smells alive but dead.*
Bearic sounded puzzled, not a common feeling for a bear. Urias couldn't see it yet. He would have to look harder.
