"Agreed. And you will not try to seek out the child. Ever. I will tell you anything I wish you to know."
He paused, considering.
"You will tell no-one of the child's origins. I assume you can concoct a suitable story to avoid suspicion? Some man chance met on the road, an old lover, that sort of thing."

The green man nodded.
"I will."
The phrase unless I want it to hung in the air between them. And then he flashed his white teeth at her.
"My father will be so pleased. He will enjoy having a new grandchild to care for. And you are a sorceress, are you not? I can feel the power in you."

The fay man smiled.
"So. What to do with them? Perhaps I shall have them duel to the death for our amusement. Or give them to my sisters to sire their children?"

"They answer to me." Hallewes said. "Ironside has been my companion on many of my travels and is loyal to me. I would rather he not harmed or used."

"Indeed? And what would he say if he were offered the choice with bedding with one of my sisters. They all all lovely to behold. Do you not think he would like the choice?"

Hallewes was silent for a moment "The choice is his but I do not wish him harmed." she said finally.
