Arthur lay groaning on the foor as Gawain was quick to go and stand guard over the queen. The boy king had blood on his clothing and in his hair. He looked up at Dina with a pained expression.
"War is much harder than I thought it would be, Dina."

Dina bit her lip and stroked his hair off his forehead
"I know Sire, it is not easy it was my first true fight here too." She said to him soothingly, she looked up at the nearest person and asked for water.

The nearest person happened to be the brunette, who was now trying to cover herself with a cloak. She handed Dina a flagon of water.

"Thank you" Dina said to her as she took it.
She ripped some material from her top and dipped it in the flagon dampening it
"Sire, drink." She said to Arthur holding the water so it was easy for him to have some.

Arthur lifted his head and drank.
"Best not tear up too much of your clothing," he said, trying to be humourous. "Or you'll have none left. Though I don't think Gawain would mind."

Dina laughed "I have more on my horse." she said offhandedly.
She wiped some of the blood from him.

He tried to smile.
"Thank you, Dina. You are a kind nurse. I don't deserve your attentions. You may well have saved us all."
Meanwhile, Gawain was instructed the still enchanted Saxons to tie up their brethren. The brunette was sitting by the blonde girl, trying to rouse her.

"Some water might wake her." Dinadan called to the brunette, as he watched her trying to unsuccessfully wake the blonde woman. "Of course, I can't say for sure, but when people pour it on me it has that effect."

Dina grinned embarrassedly, "I was just trying to stop her from ripping my throat out." she whispered to him
She looked over at the two girls and frowned

"Thank you," the brunette called over at Dinadan.
It made no difference, though. The blonde girl didn't move.
"She's dead," the brunette shrieked.
Arthur winced.
"Oh, poor woman. We came too late. But we might still be fighting if not for you, Dina."

"You all would have won in the end. Dina said with a slight smile. "Can you move?"

Arthur struggled into a sitting position.
"It hurts, but I can move," he said. "It's my own fault for wanting to be chivalrous."

"It was either you be chivalrous or me launching myself at that woman" Dina said. "Drink some more."
She left Aethur and moved over to the two girls, she touched the brunette shoulder gently "There is nothing you can do for her." she said to her

The brunette looked up at Dina, her eyes bright with anxiety and rimmed from tears. She had wiped the blood off her face but since she wore nothing but the cloak, streaks of blood and open cuts could be seen on her body.
"Poor Eadgyth, she was such a gentle soul. She's my sister. We never did anyone harm, we just worked on our father's farm and that's all."
She had a tinge of the Saxon accent to her voice and the dead girl looked Saxon in origin but this girl spoke the tongue of the Britons like a native.
"My name is Rowena. Oh, lady, I don't understand why the queen was so cruel. She had her men beat us and rape us and all horrid things."
She burst into tears again.
