Dina shot Arthur an alarmed look but left them all the same to go to the woman.
"Your Grace." She addressed her, remembering that the man that tried to take her called this woman queen.

The woman turned as she saw the group huddled in her doorway, and the young woman approaching. Gawain, shocked that Arthur had suggested Dina confront the woman, moved protectively to stand behind her, and put an arm around her shoulder.
"Who are you?" The woman asked. "How dare you enter my hall without permission. Why did your guards not stop you?"
"I stopped them," Gawain said with a cocky grin. "Go on, my sweet, best you tell the queen what she wishes. Tell her what her men did to you."

Dina was quiet a moment. "I am Dindrane, daughter of Pellinor. A man that said he was under your orders attempted to take me by force this afternoon."
She was thankful for Gawain being there asshe was terrified of this woman.

"That is what you get for trespassing on my land," the woman said coldly. "I do not permit strangers here and especially not women. You are too beautiful to be here. See what happens to beautiful women who tresspass. They are raped and compelled to fight for the amusement of my warriors. To the death."

"What crime have they done except for being beautiful?" Dina retorted. Her dislike for this woman grew as she looked at her. "Are you so insecure in yourself that you have to take away what the gods in the wisdom have given them?"

The queen sneered at her.
"It is my land. I have the right to choose who may live and who may die. It is the law here that no woman may be more beautiful than the queen. These women are guilty, and so are you. I should make you fight the woman who wins, little girl."
Gawain moved closer still to Dina and she could feel him tense up.

"We should stop the fight now, before one of them kills the other." Dinadan said to Arthur, appalled by the barbarity of the queen. "It is not her kingdom, but rather yours by right, and she is therefore wrong in declaring she has the right to choose who lives and dies."

Tristram had remained silent until now, but like Dinadan was sickened by the spectacle of one eautiful woman having to kill another for the entertainment of these barbarians.
He echoed Dinadan's sentiments. "You are this so-called queen's liege lord, Sire. She should stop this fight at once if you order it. And if she does not..." he trailed off ominously, his hand moving to the hilt of his sword.

Dina gave an appalled look to Gawain, Then looked back at the so called queen
"There is no law in the whole of this land that says a woman must fight for being beautiful." She said, "No gods old or new would allow this."

The evil queen looked at Dina and laughed. Her laughter was loud and discordant, utterly unattractive. She made a gesture, and a number of her men moved to the door behind the men, blocking their exit.
"The gods are wicked, girl. You will learn that. And I rule here. I do as I please. Get on with it, you bitches!"
Arthur began to feel sick as he watched the two women fight. One of them was limping rather badly and had backed off as blood ran down her leg. The man seemed to be goading the other one into attacking her. Both were breathing heavily as well. The blonde woman moved forward and slipped on a river of blood and fell to the ground. The brunette stood shivering nearby, hesitant.
"Kill her!" The Queen urged. "Kill her or I'll hang you in a cage."
The brunette limped forward. Arthur's hand went to his sword hilt as he looked to the two knights and whispered.
"You're right, my friends. Prepare for battle. The women must be protected, even if we have to slaughter every man here. "
He raised his voice, as Sir Ector had taught him.
"STOP THIS MADNESS! I, Arthur Pendragon, command it."
Pottery shattered as one of the serving women dropped a bowl with a squeak of fear. Arthur could take no more. He ran forward, drawing his sword in the process and jumped into the arena between the two women
"No more."
The rasp of steel could be heard all around the hall as the Saxons brandished their weapons. Gawain drew his own sword and leaned close to Dina and whispered "Take their queen. The knights and I will deal with her guards."

Queen Aelgifu and her men surrender. The brunette girl falls to the floor and weeps. The blonde girl is seemingly unconscious and lying in a pool of her own blood. Arthur too is badly wounded.
