Dinadan nodded. "That seems the best solution to me."

Dina smiled at the solution "That is the best idea." She agreed.
She glanced at Rowena next to her "Sire, lady Rowena has asked if we can take her back to her home, a days ride from here, and for the blood price for her sister."

Arthur looked over at the two women.
"I see no reason why not. I could not leave a lady in distress. Of course her sister will have the blood price, and more than that. Anything the lady wishes from this hall, she shall have. Nothing can take away the pain of losing someone dear."
Rowena stammered out her thanks and burst into tears. Arthur looked at Dina and mouthed "Can you take care of her?"

Dina smiled a little sadly and put her arm around Rowena.
"Let's find something for you to take to your parents." she said softly to her. "It can't replace her but it will help a little."

The young woman shrank into Hallewes.
"Thank you, my lady. I just don't know why she was so wicked. Eadgyth was the most gentle soul that ever lived. She wanted to be married and have babies and be happy. But the Queen...she wanted there to be no pretty woman at all. Except her. The old king, he wasn't like his daughter, my father says."

"Some people are just like that." Dina said to her.
"Maybe one day you will have a daughter and your sister will live through her."

The girl looked up at Dina, her eyes bright with tears.
"Maybe she will. She was my dearest friend, my lady. But how is it that a lady travels with knights and a sorceror?"

Dina thought for a moment before replying.
"I was given the chance to go and I took it." she said looking a little confused with herself. Then she smiled again "I couldn't let all these go off without me could I, where would they be if I didn't come."

The young woman giggled.
"Men think they don't need women but they do. My father would be quite lost without my mother. But you have some handsome protectors."

Dina glanced over to the men and blushed
"They are." She agreed mildly "How long have you been here?" She asked trying to change the subject

"A month, maybe less," Rowena sighed. "My poor parents must be beside themselves. I don't know if they know what the queen is truly like. I never knew she did this."

"A month?" Dina was shocked "Jow did you both last this long?"

"She never made us fight before," Rowena said. "But they beat us and raped us and only let us eat bread and water. It was horrid. The queen liked to tell us what was going to happen to us. She liked our fear."

"Did she do this to many?" Dina asked "Nothing can take back what she did to you and your sister but we need to know if there are more held here or was it just you?"

"There's no other women here but she made two other women fight to the death after Eadgyth and I had been here two days," Rowena explained. "One of the men said there were more women once. I think they rounded up the women closest to the hall but Father's farm was a bit further away so it took them longer to get us."
