Sagramore laughed.
"AYe, but your lands are within Dumnonia and I am Arthur;s sworn man. I doubt I would have heard of you if you lived farther away, even though I am quite well travelled. You might do better to make your keep in some mountain fastness far away from Camelot, but I daresay you would be lonely there."

"I never claimed not to know, I merely admitted I know less than others. Would you learn to fight from a lesser instructor? I know I would not." Galahad contemplated Lancelot's suggestion. "I expect I shall find your rituals most offensive. What do you think Lady Elaine? Should I attend Lancelot's ceremony?"

"I will bear that in mind when I need a change in scenary." Hallewes said dryly. "As it is I am happy with my home, and the people that surrond me there."

Elaine looked from Galahad to Lancelot and back to Galahad.
"Certainly not! I would be most shocked if a Christian attended a pagan ritual. That is very wrong. Please, don't go, Sir Galahad! God would be angry with you."

"Oh yes? Do you like it better than Camelot?" Sagramore asked. "And who is this brave knight beside us? I never did ask his name."

Galahad nodded. "Lady Elaine is correct brother, it would not be proper for me to attend your ritual."

"And yet it is fine for a pagan to attend a Christian one? I do not think so." Lancelot replied.

"It is home." She said, unwilling to go into more detail on Cerden, she glanced at Ironside. "This is Ser Ironside of the Red Lands."
"Where do you come from Sir Sagramore?"

"Well met, Sir Ironside. I was born at my father's castle in Sussex. He was sworn to King Vortigern and I was sent to Camelot as Arthur's ward. A prisoner," he spat. "My father's lands were taken from him. Camelot is the only home I have now."

Hallewes raised her eyebrow at his words. "A prisoner here?" She asked. "Yet I see nothing to keep you here if your fathers lands have been taken."

"I have nowhere else to go," he said. "I am a knight here and an honoured member of the court, but I was certainly a prisoner when I was a boy. Vortimer of Sussex has granted my father's lands to another and he is Arthur's sworn foe. Would you have me ride into Sussex alone? I could not hope to take back my lands without an army, and that would provoke Vortimer into war."

Hallewes gave him a look that clearly showed that she would enjoy watching him riding to Sussex alone.
"Has Vortimer ever needed an excuse in the past?" She asked, instead of voicing her opinion.

"Likely not. His father never did," Sagramore agreed. "I barely remember him but I hear he is much like Vortigern. But Arthur will not wish to instigate a war. He does not love me as well as that."

"Instigate is one thing Sir, be drawn in is another." Hallewes said. "Sometimes it is just a straw that breaks a donkeys back, though the back may be breaking long before then."

"Aye, that's true. Arthur will raise his army against Vortimer when he must, but he would not go to war just for me. I'm not that close to him."
Sagramore shrugged.
"If I had my own men I'd be tempted to do it, but I have none. Unless...would setting fire to the men of Sussex please you, my lady?"

"There would be no reason for me to do such athing to them. They have done me no harm." She said. "If they had then I may be tempted."
