Galahad nodded. "I believe Lancelot has done that on occasion."

Elaine squealed and drew closer to Galahad.
"Oh, please say you are teasing me! Sir Lancelot does not at all look like the kind of man to burn a man alive or lay him on an altar and cut his throat."

"I'm afraid I do not know whether Lancelot has or has not done such... distasteful things. Even if he hasn't I do not doubt he knows men who have." Galahad replied. "Is that not so, brother?"

"Oh, several times." Lancelot said with a smile to show he was joking, he was not particularly excited about staying around two people who wanted to do nothing but insult him, but his facade had to keep up. What was this opposed to Christianity where massacring anyone who disagrees with them seemed to be perfectly justified.

Hallewes slipped discreetly from Morgause and her bethrothed, glad to get away from the girl.
She glanced to where Ironside was with another man and gave a wry smile. At least he was mixing, she thought. She looked around to see if there was anyone that she knew here.

Galahad shook his head. "My brother dodges my question, how surprising. Still, he has been kind enough to join us in coming to church so that is something I suppose."

The man with Ironside grinned at Hallewes. He had an arrogant smile. He knew himself to be attractive and skilled with a blade and that was all that mattered to him.
"Greetings, my lady."

"Yes..." Elaine said faintly. "But...oh, I am more frightened than ever of the pagans."

Hallewes raised her eyebrow as he spoke.
"Sir." She said in way of greeting. "I am afraid that I do not know your name."

"There is nothing to be afraid of, we do not really sacrifice people," Lancelot said, "Galahad is once again being supercilious, I ask you brother, why is your god so much better than our gods?" He asked, still smiling.

"I am Sir Sagramore," he said.
He slung one of his legs over the bench and filled his tankard.
"And what is yours, lady? Your man and I had not got to the introductions yet."

"I am Hallewes." She said simply. "Sir Sagramore, I am afraid that I know not of you or any of your deeds."

"In truth, I am not the person best suited to answer that question." Galahad replied. "If you are truly interested in learning about Christianity I suggest you speak with a priest."

"I should be offended by that," Sagramore said with a loud laugh. "But I've decided that you're a comely lass and I'd rather sit and talk with you. You've not heard of me, you say, but I heard you burned a village to ashes. Is that the truth?"

"I have had disagreements with the village folk yes." Hallewes said, avoiding the question. "I was not aware that my dealings with my land was talked about beyond it."

"I am not interested, I just do not think you should take such a pious tone when you do not even apparently know yourself. But I am willing to be proven wrong by one of your priests. Are you?" He wondered, "As I am opening my mind to the chapel, why do you not attend the fires with mother?"
