"I'd be glad to give it a go," Gawain said. "Perhaps if-"
But he broke off as the young squire entered.
"Oh gods. Looks like some poor fool has got himself into trouble. And one named after the old king, more's the pity."

"A lady came out to the training yard and was shooting fire arrows. Uther said he wanted to try. She didn't want him to but he insisted, so she let him. And then he burned his leg when the arrow slipped," the boy gasped. "He's hurt awful bad, my lady."

"Does this castle have it's own healer?" She asked the squire and then turned to the hall, "I need someone to help bring water out and clean cloth," She told the hall, authoritatively.
Lancelot had been listening and stood up, and grabbed a couple of jugs of water off of the table nearby, "My lady, I will help you," He said.

"Yes, but our physician is with Ser Alexander, as she is most of the time now," the boy explained. "I can ask if shbe'll come, my lady?"
Gawain stood.
"If you need someone to help carry the lad inside, I'd be honoured to help," he told Iseult.

"No, if she is needed there, I should be able to handle a burn," I could use your help showing me the way though, then you could go and inform the boy's father?" She suggested putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Moving him is not as important as treating the burn right now, but if you could help move him when I have seen to it, that would be very kind, Sir." She said, after turning to Gawain with a smile, then waited for the squire to lead on.

The boy looked up at Iseult and nodded.
"I can do that, my lady."
He started towards the doors. Gawain ushered Iseult and Lancelot ahead and followed in their rear as they made their way out to where Uther lay, sobbing against Dina's shoulder, while the other boys stood a short distance away trying not to look guilty.

Dina looked up at the calvary and gave the boy some encouragement

"Lady Dina, you were the one letting them use fire arrows?" She said with surprise, but her look quickly became a frown, and shook her head, clearly disappointed, "I thought you had sense."
She took on a much more benign expression when she knelt next to Uther and put a hand on his shoulder, "Hello, Uther, my name is Iseult, I am going to take care of you." She said, introducing herself and giving his shoulder a comforting squeeze, "Now I know this hurts, but i need you to lie back for me, so I can see your wound better, okay?" She asked, and paused before lowering his slowly, down to the ground again, and then looked to see the size of the burn.
Lancelot knelt down next to Iseult with the water, and waited for her to tell him what to do.

"Clearlu I do not." Dina retorted, her tone sharp as she already felt bad enough for the boy being injured

The burn covered the top of his midthigh. It looked painful but not dire. Some of the skin had burned away and flesh in a couple of places too, and there was blood and pus, but nothing Iseult couldn't handle. Uther simply groaned and, at Gawain's suggestion, bit down on the knight's (sheathed) table dagger.

"There is a brave boy," She said in a comforting voice and looked up at Dina, "Could you hold his hand while I do this, it's going to sting something fierce," She explained and then smiled at him then looked to Lancelot, "Sir, would you help me remove the boy's trousers?" She asked and Lancelot set down the water to help her remove them, in order to be able to clean the wound and put a dressing on.

Dina took hold of Uthers hand.
"Squeeze me when it hurts if you want." She told him quietly.

"I will."
Iseult's ministrations were sure and delicate. She was not rough, and hurt the boy no more than was necessary for the task at hand. She did very well for a beginner and cleaned the wound without much difficulty. Afte ra while, the wound was dressed.
"Well done," Gawain said. "I had no idea the maidens of Ireland were so talented."
He looked over at Dina and whispered "Don't blame yourself. I know what boys are like. If this lad is anything like me, he has a taste for anything dangerous."

When it was done Dina let go of his hand.
She gave a tiny smile to Gawain and gathered the arrows silently.

"I am sure there is a lot about us you do not know, but thank you, it is thanks to Gaius" she replied to Gawain with a grin, before turning back to Uther with a soft smile, she didn't bother to look at Dina as she left, "Does that feel any better?"

"Here, Lancelot, help me get the boy up and into the castle," Gawain called to Lancelot.
Meanwhile, one of the other boys helped Dina retrieve the arrows and one of the servants, perhaps the lord's steward, came over to Iseult.
"My lady, you seem to have tended the boy well. He's Sir Ector's youngest, you know. Perhaps you could take a look at Sir Alexander too?"
