The home of Sir Ector, foster father to Arthur. Arthur grew up here. The castle is tall and grey, with round towers. It is positioned amid the Forest Sauvage (modern day New Forest). Sir Ector rules over a number of farms and a few villages and hamlets. The child village is Mapleham (near modern day Brockenhurst).

Arthur and his companions arrive at Castle Sauvage, where the nobles among the party are invited by Sir Ector (who accompanied them) to rest for a couple of days before pressing onwards.

Dina had collected the arrows that she had made before leaving Camelot and went to find the practise area once all formalities had been seen to.
She took some matches with her, not caring about the promise that she had made Arthur before.

Sir Ector's castle had an archery range where a handful of men now practiced. Dina spotted a boy of perhaps twelve already there. He had the look of Sir Ector and Sir Kay, with the same red hair and facial features. A couple of other lads were present as well and they egged the boy on as he shot.

Dina smiled as she stopped to watch the boy practise. She remembered when she had first started to play and grinned suddenly.

After a while, one of the lad's companions spotted Hallewes and said to him, "Oi, Uther, you have an admirer."
The both turned around and saw Hallewes and her arrows.
"Hello! Are you coming to practice or did you fetch arrows for somebody else?"

Dina raised her eyebrow.
"I have come to practice." She told them. "If anyone wants their own arrows they can find their own."

"Oh. You can shoot at the butt next to mine, if you like," he offered. "But may I know your name? I don't know you so I know you came in with the king and my father. I'm Uther. My father is Sir Ector, the lord of this castle."

"My name is Dina." She answered simply with a smile. She wandered to where he had had and pushed the points into the ground. She shot the first one of hers off to check if they were at least true-ish.
"It is good to meet you Uther."

Lancelot was sitting in the hall of the castle, not weary at all despite the ride, and only keen to continue. All the time they spent here was time his glory was getting out of his hand.

After a while, Lancelot was joined by Gawain with a tankard of mead in his hand.
"Nice castle, this," he said. "Drink, Lancelot? You look like a man who could use one."

"You read my mind," Lancelot said with a friendly grin to Gawain, "I am just ready to be moving on, despite how nice the place is, I am sure you understand, the people of Cameliard need us."

Galahad sat by himself in a corner of the hall, polishing his armor.

"Aye. I understand that. But we had to take some of Sir Ector's men with us, and let Sir Ector stay here. Arthur is with him now. He's most dutiful. Do you want ale or mead? There's both."

After a while, one of the castle servants came over to Galahad.
"Can I get you anything, sir? Food, drink, a squire to help you tend your armour?"

"Water will suffice, thank you." Galahad replied, not trusting that a squire would not make an error in tending to his armor.
