"I can't see them minding." Dinadan replied. "My father is dead, and my mother will be sure to get some grandchildren from my two brothers."
////
"No, but Gawain's notions of innocent pleasures are anything but innocent." Galahad said unhappily.

"Oh. Fair enough, then."
But was clear Gawain disagreed.
"You've time yet, if you change your mind. In the meantime, I can't blame you for wanting to have adventures."
////////////
"Then what would you call innocent?" Arthur asked, genuinely interested.

"Conversations that aren't sinful." Galahad replied, as if the answer was obvious. "Discussing females in the way that Gawain and Dinadan are is not at all virtuous."
/////
"I suppose I do." Dinadan agreed. "I doubt I will change it though."

"But it does no harm. No ladies heard the conversation," Arthur pointed out. "So why is it so sinful?"
////////
"Then never mind. I thought perhaps I was helping. But...what if your good friend Sir Tristram were to take a wife and want to spend time with her? Would that not prompt you to marry? After all, if the two women were friends, they could spend time together while the two of you go a-questing," Gawain suggested.

"It doesn't matter whether or not the women heard, it matters that they'd think such unvirtuous thoughts." Galahad told the king.
/////////
Dinadan looked thoughtful for a moment. "Perhaps...but I'd have to think about it. It seems that I'd still have obligations to her."

"But...nobody can help that, surely. We all have thoughts about other people, even if we don't tell them to other people. Is it a sin to desire a woman? The Bible tells us we have to be fruitful and multiply. How can we do that unless we desire women?"
Arthur seemed a little confused now as he tried to work out the logic of what seemed to be two contradictory matters of faith.
///////
"A husband must always have an obligation to his wife, and she to him, but it's the kind of situation where you need not feel obliged to keep her company all the time. You'd just have to find the right woman. Perhaps one who would rather sit at home with children most of the time and is happy to have a husband she doesn't seen very often. It would give you both a kind of freedom, because then you would be free from lords scheming to throw their daughters at you," Gawain laughed. "And your wife would not have to fear becoming a dried up old maid."

Post by Lady Iseult of Ireland on Jun 2, 2012 2:33:46 GMT
After a short while Lady Iseult arrived to the council meeting, wearing a modest ruby red dress, with billowing sleeves, her hair was half up in a celtic braid to keep it away from her face, with the rest of her long red hair going down her back in soft waves. She spotted Morgan and another lady, and gravitated towards the two of them, after an elegant curtsey to Arthur, feeling more comfortable in the company of other ladies than with burly knights.
"My lady, it is good to see you returned safe, I have missed you being here since you have been gone."
////////////
Not long after Iseult arrived, it was Sir Lancelot's turn, and he made a far more incredible entrance, the door seemingly pushing itself open as he neared it, and his soft golden hair bouncing in time with his steps, he looked the very picture of the knight he was famed to be.
He grinned good naturedly round the room, and bowed slightly to the ladies with a wink at Dina before bowing then to the King and sitting down, resting one foot across his knee, his posture as relaxed as he always felt.
"Sorry if I kept you all waiting, I was instructing some of the guards on how to better some of their sword formations and time escaped me." He said, trying to justify his lateness, but not really caring that he was late.

Morgan smiled brightly at Iseult.
"And I you. I hope Morgause and the other ladies have at least kept you from boredom," she said. "This is Dina of Listeneise. Dina, this is Iseult of Ireland. Did you study with Gaius like we discussed?"
//////////
"That's alright," Arthur said with youthful disregard for time. "We're still waiting for Sir Ector to arrive, and we need him. Merlin too, and a few others. But poor Sir Ector hasn't been well and Gaius is with him for now. Gawain and I have just been talking to your brother Galahad, and Sir Dinadan. Sir Galahad is trying to help me become a better Christian."
He smiled, all youthful eagerness.

"lady Iseault." Dina said with a smile. "I beleive that we met before the quest?"

"Did we? It was so long a go, and so much has happened since the quest was announced. Please forgive me." Iseult said, going a fetching shade of pink at not remembering the other lady, "Usually I have such a good memory..." She said,a looked awkward for a second before looking at Morgan as an escape route.
"Oh yes, I had a few... interesting conversations with your sister, as well as studying with Gaius, he knows so much, it has been such a privilege to learn under him, though there have been a few incidents I did not think I would have to help deal with, but it was fine in the end."
////////////////
Sir Galahad is both the best and worst person to help you, I feel." Lancelot replied good naturedly, "Is Christianity and being better not up to the person who adheres to it? I find anything in excess is wrong."

"But you are very new to your studies. You must not expect to become a great healer without study and practice," Morgan said. "I'm pleased you decided to make the effort though. I am not very fond of the kind of ladies who do nothing but sit and sew and gossip all day long."
//////////
Arthur looked from Lancelot to Galahad and back again.
"I agree that excess is wrong, but I thought you a pagan, Lancelot, so how can you advise me on Christian values, as your brother can?"

"I didn't say I could, only that I would not just look to one person to tell you about your own faith. It's yours after all, isn't it?" Lancelot replied with an easy smile, and a wave of his hand.
////////////////
Iseult nodded at Morgan, "Yes, I imagine you are not, I am glad I could find something to do while everyone was away, it seems the fun left with you all, but studying is always a good thing to do."

"Yes, but we have to do what the Bible tells us, and the priests tell us what God's message is," Arthur replied, sounding a little as if he were reciting a lesson learned as a child. "Because sometimes it's hard to understand. There is only one truth and that is God's will."
////////////
"So it is. I loved my time studying the magical arts, and there are many things I don't know, many forms of magic that are obscure or unknown to me. But if you think danger is fun, perhaps you should come with us when we return to the quest?"

"As you say, your grace." Lancelot said while inclining his head, "But I would not trust what I believe to a book, but I suppose that is why I am a pagan." he went on, though he wasn't exactly an avid practiser of the pagan ways either.
//////////////////
"Perhaps I should, though I would feel bad leaving Gaius when I have been helping him. Though he managed before me." Iseult said, with a small smile, and a light shrug, "Beidh Am insint"

Arthur gasped and looked over at Galahad in shock.
"But the Bible is a Holy text, Lancelot! Is is a true account of the world as it began. It was written by men guided by God's own hand. How can you say it might not be true?"
///////////////
"Yes. It is your choice, of course. But I fear things will be changing, with the Saxons giving us trouble on the borders. Especially with Vortimer supporting them in the east. So perhaps none of us can go questing at all," Morgan sighed. "And yet, perhaps it's as well we've not found most of the treasures yet. The invaders would surely seek to take them from us."
