"Why wouldn't you bee? You have obviously made a valuable contribution to our efforts."

"It is nothing." Dina replied with a frown, resisting the urge to look at Arthur, "And something that I hope will be fixed."

"Oh?"
Morgan was more and more intrigued by Dina's behaviour.
"Perhaps you should tell me. Maybe I can help."

Dina sighed. "I cant say Morgan. Its something I need to figure out on my own."

"Oh. Well, I'll be around if you change your mind," Morgan said. "Gods, I wish this meeting would start already!"

"Of course Sir, I'd be happy to help you." Dinadan grinned.
Galahad kept himself busy by pouring ale for Dinadan but not himself. Then he took a seat beside the king.

Gawain showed a flash of white teeth as he pushed hair away from his face. It had grown overlong during the quest but he rather liked it as it was.
"This is the dilemma, Sir Dinadan. If you had to take one of those lovely ladies as your wife - or even just to your bed - which would you choose?"
He indicated Dina and Morgan sitting at the nearby table.
"Naturally the King is unable to answer, since the Lady Morgan is his own sister. He cannot offer an unbiased response."

Galahad muttered something that may have either been "sinful" or "distasteful". It was hard to discern which.
"Neither." Dinadan told Gawain. "Love is something that takes much from you but gives you little in return. Taking one of them to bed would be slightly different, but they'd still have expectations of you afterword, and expectations can be problematic. If I had to choose, I'd probably pick Lady Dindrane. She seems less, ah, demanding than Lady Morgan."

Gawain burst out laughing. That prompted Morgan to turn and look quizzically in his direction, but the knight merely saluted her and turned back to Dinadan.
"A good answer, sir! Lady Dina is beautiful and good. Not that the Lady Morgan is not, but...yes, she is much more..." He paused, seeking an appropriate word to say in the presence of Arthur. "Stubborn. I did not speak of love, however. It's well know that love is not a necessity in marriage or bedding, though I should certainly prefer it. But am I right to think you have not yet given your heart to a lady?"
Arthur turned and whispered to Galahad "Does Sir Gawain's little joke offend you, sir?"

"It's hardly a joke, your highness." Galahad muttered. "Speaking of noble women in such a way is not chivalrous." Galahad would have said highborn woman had he not been speaking to Arthur. It seemed undiplomatic to express his dislike of the king's sister.
"I should think not." Dinadan grinned. "Women are far to much trouble for me."

"It was not meant unkindly," Arthur whispered to Galahad. "Gawain likes women too well to willingly offend any lady. I believe it's what passes for talk on the mead benches in Lothian. I daresay the ladies say the same about us. And besides, these northern men are far more outspoken than we southerners. Gawain would have me believe that every man - and every woman - in Lothian speaks his mind whenever he pleases."
/////
"How so? Personally, I like a little trouble," Gawain said with a laugh. "Do you not dream of having sons of your own? You'd be needing a wife for that."

"Sons? Chances are they'd just end up taking themselves to seriously. That'd drive me mad." Dinadan told Gawain.
/////
"Saying what you please is often not the right thing to do." Galahad replied. "Just because everyone around you is doing something does not mean you should join them."

Gawain laughed once more and filled his tankard with ale.
"There speaks a man who does not have the weight of a kingdom upon his shoulders. For myself, I must marry. I am the eldest son and it is my duty to provide for Lothian and the Orkneys. And yet I think you will be lonely, if you decide never to take a wife. There are many lovely women here at court. What a pity if you could not bear to marry one of them."
//////////
"I didn't say it was," Arthur said. "But that is the way of it in Lothian, I believe. They are not as...courtly as we are. But surely there is no harm in innocent pleasures?"

"A sin is a sin, regardless of what the circumstances surrounding it are." Galahad preached.
////////////////////////
"Lonely? I should think not. A wife would prevent me from having adventures. Then I would be bored, and I'd have no one to amuse with my wit." Dinadan replied.

"But not everything that is pleasurable is a sin," Arthur countered. "That is not part of Christianity."
/////////
"Oh. But your poor parents will have no grandchildren," Gawain scolded, playfully. "I see no reason why a man can't have adventures and children. I certainly intend to."
