From a copse of trees Diwrnach watched the city of Camelot. He waited til it grew dark then transformed in a raven then took to wing. He deftly circled the city. Once it had not been so easy to fly but years of practice had made him quite skilled.
He perched on the window of the library for a brief moment looking inside. The candlelight flickered casting shadows here and there amongst the rows of parchments and leather bound books.
He flew to a dark corner then took on his human shape. He stretched for a moment, straightened his dark cloak then began looking at the various scrolls. Druids did not record their knowledge on paper, instead they passed it down verbally. That was simply the way it had always been. Certain non-pagan scholars liked to write down everything in their feeble minds. Most of it was rubbish but these parchments occasionally held small bits of knowledge that he could use.
Diwrnach continued looking through the parchments for one that would possess something useful...

A shadow passed over Diwrnach's body as the court librarian, Geoffrey of Monmouth, came to stand beside him.
"Can I help you?"
His voice was solemn, but courteous. He was a man who took his work seriously and he wanted to help those who came to his domain for information.

Diwrnach did not look up. He was irritated at the interruption though his voice did not reflect it. "I seek a worthy lord, one who would appreciate and reward me well for my talents. Do you know any such men?"
"Ooh and he must be a pagan." He said as an afterthought.

Geoffrey coughed in disapproval. He had grown up in a monastery and was devoted to his God. If Diwrnach had cared to look he would have seen that Geoffrey's robes were distinctly priestly.
"You might try the Kings of Orkney or Gore. Both of those lords follow the old ways. Or else Viviane, the Lady of the Lake, if you have not already come from Avalon."

Diwrnach knew full well that Geoffrey was a christian though he enjoyed toying with the older stuffy man. He wondered if all christians were born with a stick up their arses.
"Have you any new scrolls that I might find of interest?"He asked

"Possibly. We have had a few new additions recently. I was fortunate enough to come across a rare copy of Robert de Boron's writings on the Holy Grail."
Geoffrey paused to cough as he looked sternly at the druid.
"That is our name for the sacred vessel you know as the Cup of Life. Else, there is a Willam of Malmesbury's treastise on the Questing Beast. He claims to have been chased by the creature and narrowly escaped death at its jaws. Or...pardon me."
Geoffrey coughed again.
"The Lady Viviane was kind enough to donate a copy of her personal research on hallucinogenic herbs that may induce trance and thus aid the efforts of seers. Would any of those books be of interest? You have not specified a particular topic of interest."

Diwrnach finally turned to face Geoffrey. "You cough a lot, perhaps you would like a potion to aid you. It would be more foul than you can imagine but your cough should improve." He said matter of factly
He looked back to the scrolls again. "The cup of life you say. I have heard rumors of such, even a cauldron large enough that an adult could lay in. I'm sure you are not interested though, it requires human sacrifice. Perhaps I should see what this...Robert de Boron you said? Perhaps I should read what he has written if you would be so kind to fetch it." He said still looking over the scroll as if one would just jump out and bite him.

"Fortunately we no longer live in a barbaric age of sacrifice," Geoffrey replied. "As for the cough, it is left over from the winter. When you get to my age you will learn that you are not as healthy as you once were. One moment."
He walked away into a far corner of the library, slow and dignified, then produced a long scroll, tightly rolled, which he held out to Diwrnach.
"This document focuses on the Christian elements of the Holy Grail. You must seek elsewhere if you wish to know about your cauldron."

Diwrnach mumbled something about prayer not being a waste of breath though Geoffrey most likely had not heard.
Diwrnach accepted the tightly rolled scroll with a nod in thanks. "This will suffice, occasionally your scholars come across an item of mutual interest. Your Holy Grail might be a powerful pagan relic, worthless in hands of those lacking the knowledge of the proper rites. Though perhaps it is a christian artifact as you say." He added to ease the old man's tension.
He did not rule out the possibility of other religions, he just didn't buy into them. His was the true belief. He had seen the power of pagan rituals.
Diwrnach took the scroll to a nearby table and began to unroll it carefully. He showed respect for the scroll, it was wise to do so if he expected any assistance in the future. Clearly this Geoffrey of Monmouth took his duty here serious, it would not serve to piss on the man's pride and joy.

Geoffrey watched Diwrnach for a moment until he was satisfied the man would not damage the scroll, then he went back to the heavy, illuminated tome he had been perusing before the druid's entry.
OOC - will give you some info on the Grail later via PM

Iseult was in the library, looking on one of the shelves for a book on christianity that she might be able to read. She was walking round the appropriate areas and stood on her tip toes to look at one of shelf slightly taller than she was.
She wanted it to know about the other side of the what would be going when the fires were being held. She was wearing a dark green dress with silvery stitching on the bodice.

Voices could be heard nearby, both of them male. Iseult recognised them as King Arthur and Geoffrey of Monmouth, though they were talking quietly.
"I want to learn more about the..."
But Iseult couldn't hear what Arthur wanted to hear about.
"One moment, Your Majesty. I will fetch the book."
Geoffrey's footsteps sounded as he started away and then Arthur came round the corner and smiled warmly at Iseult.
"My lady," he said warmly. "Are you looking for something in particular?"

Iseult rocked back properly onto her feet and curtsied to Arthur, "Sire." She greeted and smiled at him as she straightened up. "I was looking for a book that could explain the Christian side of festival for me," she informed him.

Arthur narrowed his eyes at her though he kept smiling.
"That is admirable of you, my lady, and I know Geoffrey will be happy to oblige when he returns with the book I requested, but I thought you were a pagan? Why would you wish to know about Christian rites?"
