"Cheese and wine if you have any." Hallewes answered. "If that is not too much to ask for."

"You're welcome to a good wheel of cheese," the woman said. "We have apple wine, if that would serve?"

"That is most generous of you." Hallewes smiled. It sickened her being so nice.

The woman took her back to her own novel, a one roomed thatched cottage with beds that were no more than straw paliasses, a cooker, a chamber pot and little else. The woman had made it look surprisingly homey in spite of the earthen floor and lack of natural light. An old man lay coughing in the corner. The woman went to him and offered him a cup of something before turning back to Hallewes.
"Here is your cheese, and your wine."
She dumped the cheese unceremoniously in Ironside's arms, since it was quite large, and handed Hallewes the flagon of applie wine.

"Thank you." Hallewes said, accepting the wine.
She frowned at the man. "What is wrong with him?"

"That is my old father. He is old and dying. Comes to us all," the woman sighed, clearly resigned to the fact.

"Now, we should leave your settlement. Thank you for your kindness."

The woman nodded.
"Farewell, traveller."
She ushered the group out of her hovel.
"Now back to the druids?" Meldryn asked.

Hallewes thought for a moment
"Is that what is best or can we find a guide elsewhere." She asked. "I do not feel that I made the best impression on the druids at first."

"Perhaos not, but some tribes are suspicious. As they should be, with the Christians gaining power. But they do not know our intentions. So long as we bring them gifts and give them the respect they require, all should be well," Meldryn replied.

Urias stands on the edge of town blocking their way through to the forest. When they are twenty feet from him, he clears his throat and announces to them. "I have been looking for you, Sorceress."
