"Of course not. Men don't worry about that sort of thing. I'm told women do, when their daughters marry, but men take it in their stride. We're not allowed to show we care, even when we do. Only with our wives," Gawain replied.

"Well, you know, he probably wanted you married before you turn into an old maid," Gawain teased. "Right, we should go look at the horses."

Dina poked Gawain in the ribs,
"Shouldnt we ask if we can use them first?" She asked unsure

"We cannot just take their horses... We have to try first... please?" Dina asked. "They are no different from the men with the boat and you were against Sir Galahads suggestion of just taking that...."

The door opened and a dirty-faced woman stood there. She wore brown roughspun and had the brawny arms, big breasts and florid face typical of farmer's wives.
"What you want?"

Dina smiled slowly.
"We came to see if you would let us buy some of your horses?" She asked, glancing back at Gawain.

"Oh aye? How many you want? Two?"
The woman peered over at Gawain, who stood a short distance away, near the stable, standing so that his sword was cast into shadow by the wall.

"As many as you can spare." Dina replied. "Five ideally."

The woman spluttered.
"Five! Five! We only have four horses who can be sold and, begging your pardon, you don't look you can pay our prices!"

Dina didnt react.
"And what is your prices?" She asked calmly and with a slight smile.

"Tjhey're all different prices. The white stallion is two gold aureus," she said. "A horse fit for a king. Then there's the black stallion, one gold aureus. The grey mare is ten silvers and the chestnut mare twenty silvers."
The prices were steep, especially the horses. Dina realised that they could afford the silvers but not the gold.
"We were planning to sell the stallions to the King's cousin Sir Blamour," the woman boasted.
