That made Iseult frown properly at that suggestion, "How could he?" She asked, she was under the impression that only her father could marry her off, "And even if he did, what would he gain from it?" She asked, narrowing her eyes, not at Morgan but at the idea. She could think of some things, but she didn't want to speak them.

"He would make sure you married a man of his own choosing, one who would be grateful to him, and that man would have a claim to the throne of Ireland through you. There are amny reasons it might happen now you are my brother's ward," Morgan pointed out. "You are of an age to marry, are you not?"

"I was not aware being his ward meant I may have to marry someone of his choosing." She said, but sighed, it was not worth getting annoyed over, if it happened it happened.
"I have been of a marrying age for a while now, I am sixteen." She informed Morgan with a newly replaced smile and took another sip of the mead.

"Indeed. Kings do as they please and we lesser mortals must do as they say," Morgan sighed. "But enough of that. As you follow my own faith, will you come to the Beltane fires with me? Your presence would be very welcome."

"I should be delighted to attend, it will remind me of home, and I must celebrate somehow." She said, with an serene smile. Have many other agreed to go?" She asked, curious. She had heard the festival was being celebrated by Morgan, but had not heard much about who was actually going to partake, for all she knew it was just the two of them.

"Most likely all the pagans in the city will attend, no matter their rank. I know my sister Morgause will go. I am not sure if my betrothed intends to join us. I am rather hoping not. There are some things a woman should not have her betrothed witness," Morgan said with a sly grin.

"well of course, but if he is a Pagan himself, he will understand, surely. I do not think I would like someone I was meant to be married to, to witness that either though. I am glad that a fair number will be going, the more people go the better in things like this, don't you think?"Iseult agreed with a nod.
"Is Morgause as... resigned as you, or is she looking forward to being wed?"

"She is looking forward to it," Morgan agreed. "Lot is much older than she is but Morgause has always wanted to be a queen. She would marry Cernunnos himself if she got to wear a crown. If I were Morgause I would have insisted on marrying his son instead but I don't think my sister cares too much."
She finished her mead and set down the glass.
"You're right, my dear. The Beltane celebrations are always better when there are more people present. I have taken part in the rites before, when I lived at Avalon before I came to Camelot for the tourney."

Iseult laughed softly at Morgan's joke about her sister, "I suppose if that is all she wants then his age does not matter. If at all possible I would prefer a husband who is not hard on the eyes, but again, we shall have to see."
Iseult was not sure what this... Evelon place was, but she did not know the names of several places in England, so did not question it. "It is good Arthur is allowing it, if he favours Christianity. Will he be going, or should you think not?"

"It's possible but I cannot say for certain. My brother knows the old ways have power. It's my belief the rites would happen even if they were outlawed. One of the city's druids will be leading the rites, I have no doubt. I could do it myself but it would be terribly rude. I have some of their knowledge but I am not a druid."
She stopped for a moment to look at Iseult.
"Have you spoken to Arthur much?"

"Not an awful lot. He must be kept very busy, being King." She said, with a shrug and averted her eyes from Morgan.
Shelet the silence hang for a moment before continuing on, "It is probably best for these things to be left to those with more experience in them, and experts. Not saying that you could not, but it is expected of them to do such things."

"Exactly. I would gladly perform the rites if there was no-one else but there have always been druids in the city, and more are flocking every day because of the summons. It will be interesting to see if they and the priests can stomach one another," Morgan said with a giggle.
She chose not to remark on Arthur further, at least not yet. Iseult was clearly uncomfortable.

"interesting? Fun more like." Iseult said with another wicked grin, "It would hardly promote compatibility though, between the two if they started firing scripture and tome passages at one another. Which will only be trouble. I think one faith is far easier for everyone to handle,"

"Yes, that may be, but would you lose our faith to the god of the Christians?" Morgan countered. "I know I would not. And they would not want to give him up to us. In time it may be that he is forgotten, as the gods of the Romans were, but for now we must put live with both. And Arthur has shown that he does not wish to choose and thus anger one side in doing so. He is all about unity and tolerance. He wants everyone to live in peace under his banner. It's a noble aim but I worry. Arthur's idealism may be his undoing."

"Christianity came from somewhere and changed the mind of so many people away from Pagan ways here that I cannot rightly say that most people would not just go with the change." She said, but shrugged, she had no problem with Christianity, or who practised it, she just did not wish to.
"There is nothing wrong with Christianity and Paganism being side by side, I think it is the people who are the problem, but things seem fine for the moment, so we shall have to see. Arthur is doing the right thing at the moment in my views, whether that will remain the case is... debatable, I am sure Merlin will steer him right."
