"I am sure once you marry that you will come to feel the same affection for your new home. replied Mark. "Especially when children arrive."

"Oh...I never thought of it like that," she said, making hehrself smile at him. "Perhaps you are right. I am a little afraid that my husband's servants will not love me, but I know I will love my children. But...I had hoped that I might be able to pay a visit to Cornwall some day. I've never been back."

"The High King's sister would be most welcome." said Mark. "Is that all you require of Cornwall's friendship? A visit to your father's former home?"

"For the moment, yes. There may be something else but now is not the time to speak of it. I don't know you yet, my lord, nor you me, so I am sure you will forgive my reticence."

"Forgive me my lady," replied Mark his brow furrowing.".....but in that case, I am having some trouble understanding why you would offer to assist me - someone you barely know - against your own sister. It seems an overly generous and indeed somewhat unusual offer, unless there is something else behind it."

"I wish to ensure there is peace in my brother's realm, and I know Morgause has an ambitious heart. Her betrothed has a hungry look to him. He makes me anxious, my lord. He is exactly the sort of man who might try to make a claim for your kingdom through his wife," she said.

Mark nodded in acceptance. That seemed plausible.
"I am pleased that you acknowledge Cornwall as my kingdom, my lady. So while I might fear a possible claim by Morgause and overly ambitious future husband, I need not fear any such claim by you. In that case we shall get on well." He smiled.

"Indeed we shall. As I said before, I am the younger sister. A woman's claim is always problematic. I'm fond of my sister but I am not blind to her faults. She has always been ambitious, even when we were little girls at the convent."

"And what of you my lady? Your sister will marry King Lot. Has your brother talked of a match for you?"

"I am to marry King Uriens of Gore," Morgan revealed. "But I barely know the man so you must forgive me if I am not wildly excited as yet."

Mark nodded. "Why Uriens?"

"Because my brother needs his support. With Lot and Uriens at his side, as well as King Pellinore, he has a presence in the north, which is crucial when King Rions is known to be hostile."

Mark had guessed as much, but he had wanted to hear the reason from Morgan's own lips.
"Well then my lady, I wish you well in your nuptials. I hope you and your sister enjoy life in the north as the Queens of Gore and Lothian."

"Oh, I am sure we will. We are getting quite well travelled. From Cornwall to Glastonbury, to Avalon and the kingdom of the fay, back to Camelot and later to Gore. It's most odd. Do you not tire of Cornwall, my lord?"

"I could never tire of Cornwall." replied Mark. "In any case ruling a kingdom is a time-consuming activity. I do travel outside of Cornwall occasionally. I am here in Camelot now and I have interests in Brittany that require my presence on occasion."
