* I am not like the rest of my kind, I am a healer. the only blood on my hands are those of the people and animals that I help, My needs are little for I spend most of my days alone in the forest or with my Clan, I do not seek riches wealth or fame for those would surely complicate my life rather then help me.* Urias claims

*Very odd. But I must still reward you somehow. Is there nothing your clan desires, that you would be pleased to give them?*

*I am not associated well with our Clan's leader, I do not know what they desire or would accept. If it has to be I would ask that I would be able to help protect this forest and the animals that inhabit it better, but that has to come through work on my part and I would not feel deserving if it was gifted to me even by such a majestic creature as yourself. * Urias claims with a bow.

*You do me much honour. It may be that I can do as you wish but I must think upon it. Will you wait or would you rather I sought you at your clan's camp?*
The cats speech was getting less clear and Urias could feel the waves of exhaustion rolling off her.
*I am tired and must sleep now.*

* I have no intention of leaving this area until you are safely healed and ready to head back home where the villagers cannot hunt you. Until then sleep well my friend. Urias says as he heads back out of the cave.

Bearic was waiting when Urias appeared. The bear looked to be asleep but Urias felt the bear's mind touch his.
*What did it want? Will we go home now?*

*Not yet, there is something about a favor that must be repaid. Go back to sleep all is well. We will leave when the animal is healed enough to make her trip back home* Urias says as he lays down as well.

Bearic yawned and settled down. At first it seemed that he was asleep then his mind touched Urias once more.
*This cat does a lot of ordering you about. Are you sure it hasn't cast a spell on you?*

*I am sure that my mind is still my own, now if I start meowing in my sleep let me know so I can make sure there has been no spell put on my.* Urias says with a mental chuckle.

Bearic's laughter rumbled in Urias' mind. The bear then closed his eyes and went to sleep.
The next day, the cat limped out of the cave and was standing over Urias when he woke.
*Druid.*

Urias opens his eyes to see the cat standing above him, *Hello, and you may call my Urias. I am sure you would rather be called by your name then 'Bastet'.* Urias tells the cat.

*I do not mind being called Bastet but my name is Matrona, after the Great Mother. It is rare that I have speech with humans at all.*
Her golden eyes gleamed in the morning light and she seemed to be smiling. Her mood had certainly improved.

* Very well Matrona, I find that easy to believe, after all most humans do not share my feelings of kinship with the earth and other species that inhabit it alongside us. The druid tells her with an outward smile.

*True. The Bastets know there was a time when all mankind revered the world in which we live and many of its creatures too but as the Christ God gains in power, the natural order of things is being forgotten. Men put their faith in something they cannot see instead of the world that nourishes them.*
The great cat seemed sad as she spoke.
"You and your people - the druids - must help to protect the old ways before they are lost."

*I do what I can, as do the others of my clan, hopefully the mark we leave on the world will be enough to some people. But I do not think we will be enough to stop the flow of this new religion.* Urias says with sorrow of his own.
