"No, not as yet." replied Mark. "Who else would you suggest?"

"I do not know. There are wisewomen in Cornwall, as you surely know. Women's lore is somewhat different to men's, even though wisewomen are pagans. They may know something I do not."

Mark nodded. "Then we shall consult on your recommendation. What do you know of a mantle that makes the wearer invisible and another of a sword with special powers? Are they in Cornwall as far as you know?"

Telio scratched his head.
"I have heard tell of a magic sword that gives the wielder great prowess in battle. Some say it is in Cornwall, truly, but others say Wales, Dumnonia or at the bottom of a lake in Listeneise. Else regarding the mantle, I have heard of that too, but it is a northern tale I had from a friend who travelled from Gore to the Pictish lands in his youth. He claimed the Picts used it to harass the Roman soldiers and thus the wall of Hadrian was built."

"So who would know for certain whether any of the Treasures are in Cornwall?" asked Mark.

"A seer may know, but not all sorcerors are seers. You would need to find one who has the gift," Telio suggested.

Mark scratched his head. "And do you know of any of these seers in Cornwall?"

"I know one to be sure. An old woman and wise as they come. But she is a recluse."

"Then I ask to tell me where she is and I shall seek her out at once."

Telio smiled.
"St Michael's Mount, lord. The island."

The King of Cornwall nodded. "A lovely place."
He rose. "I shall ask you to accompany me Telio. I intend to leave for the Mount at once."

"Indeed? I will require time for planning, lord," Telio said. "A visit to the seer is not undertaken lightly. All such require gifts in exchange for their services."

Mark weighed a dismissive hand.
"Gifts there shall be. See my steward for what may be given. But make haste Telio."

"We may leave tomorrow then," Telio said.
He was smiling as if he enjoyed telling a King what to do.
"The escort must be small. My people fear you Christians will destroy them."

Having deposited the sword safely, under lock and key and heavy guard, Mark returns to his private quarters.
