"I am pleased that all our efforts have not been in vain then," said Mark.
"The sword shall be kept safe here Teilo, until it shall be given to Arthur."

"That is well and good," Telio agreed, as he still held onto the sword, reluctant to give it up. "I would ask if you mean to keep it a secret, lord?"

"For the moment." replied Mark.
"I am concerned for the realm of course and for Arthur, but I have to think of the good of Cornwall as well. The sword shall be a gift to Arthur from Cornwall, not from anyone else who may try to claim it. So I ask you Teilo, not to say anything of these matters to others, until I give you leave. Rest assured that the sword is in good hands and will remain so, when it is given to Arthur."

The druid reluctantly laid the sword down, murmuring a prayer as he did so.
"Of course, lord. I am content with that. I will tell my family something suitable about my absence, that is all."

The scribe arrived and bowed.
"Lord king, how may I serve you?"

"I would like a letter written to Hoel of Brittany. You may inform him that I will be making a state visit to discuss matters both great and small concerning the realms of Britain and Gaul." replied Mark.

"It shall be done, lord," the scribe promised. "When shall you leave?"

"At once." replied Mark. "My cousin the Lady Morgan is in Cornwall, but she is about her own business. However I shall appoint Meliodas of Lyonesse as regent of Cornwall in my absence."

The scribe frowned.
"Lord king, since the letter has to be sent overseas, and since Your Highness intends to leave at once, the messenger will surely have to sail on the same ship as yourself and thus he would not be able to travel faster than Your Highness until he disembarked on foreign shores."

"That is true. However the messenger will proceed within the hour on a ship from Tintagel. I shall leave tomorrow with a retinue and travel much more slowly. Hence King Hoel will at least get some notice of my coming. I have much to discuss with him."

"Yes lord. It will be done."
The scribe bowed.
