He grinned at her.
"But surprises can be both good and bad. A dead animal's head, slain in the hunt, would be a surprise for you but I doubt you'd favour that as a gift, would you?"

"That is true." Dina said, "What would you preferas a surprise?"

"For myself? I can't tell you that, Dina. It would be most impolite. You are a lady of noble birth."

"Again, impolite I suspect." chuckled Dinadan.

"Aye, mayhaps it is," Gawain said, winking at Dinadan. "You know my kind well, sir. I am a simple man with simple tastes, no fine courtier. But I am fond of good blades, as it happens. Good horses too."
OOC - shall we move on a bit?

Dina grinned "Do you like surprises sir?" she asked Dinadan

"No, not particularly." Dinadan answered. "From what I gather surprises are usually rather unpleasant."

"That's what I thought,!" Gawain agreed. "Enough talk, for now. Let us look out for danger. These are dangerous lands."

Dina smiled and adjusted the way she held her bow. She was ready for anything to jump out

They moved on further. Everything seemed quiet and the journey was thus rather boring. But after a while Gawain held up a hand to the others.
"Did you hear that? I heard something. A horse maybe."

Dinadan listened, trying to hear if Gawain's perceived noise existed.

Dina shook her head but got an arrow out, notching it loosely.
"What did you hear Sir?" she asked quietly.

"A horse," Gawain whispered.
Dinadan heard it too, albeit faintly, so quiet he almost doubted its existence.
"We should proceed more carefully. It may be an enemy," Gawain whispered. "Either of you any good at stalking prey?"

"I hear it as well." Dinadan whispered back. "But I suspect you are a better hunter than I Gawain."
