Galahad entered and bowed before the king as his brother had. Then noticing his brother and mother speaking he made his way over. "Mother, Lancelot, I trust you are well?" He asked stiffly.

Viviane nodded and indicated a free space on her other side. She smiled warmly for Galahad whilst hoping he would not maintain the stiffness all night.
"I am very well. I was just telling Lancelot that I may be staying a while."

"Do you mean you are staying for your pagan ritual?" Galahad asked, trying to conceal his distaste. "Or do you mean to stay longer?"

"No, mother and I are both leaving before the expression of our faith." Lancelot said sarcastically, he was not really bothered about this, but he was spoiling for a bit of confrontation tonight, and having a small jibe at his brother would have to do."You should not scowl down your nose at others so, Galahad, it will ruin your eyesight, and a blind knight is not worth much,"
///////////////////
"I never said the man I marry and my beloved would be the same person," Iseult pointed out, Morgan always seemed to run with what she said and make it into some kind of deep insightful pondering, rather than taking it for how it was meant, but perhaps that was how she was, Iseult was glad for the change from people who spoke so frankly. "See, you and Uriens seem to have more and more in common the more you tell me." she said, with a smile and laugh of her own.

A blind knight is worth more than a false knight, thought Galahad to himself, but did not rise to the bait of his brother. "I suppose you are right brother, I shall try to stop myself from scowling in the future. How have you been? I do not remember the last time we spoke, was it a week ago?"

"Oh, why are you grumpy?" Arthur asked curiously. "Age has such an effect, my boy. You'll learn that in time." Merlin replied in a somber tone. Not wanting to put a damper on the festivities, he added "Just ask Gaius. I'm sure he is more familiar with the topic of becoming an old man than I." This was said loud enough so that his old friend and court physician could hear.

Post by Sir Ironside/Merlin on Oct 29, 2011 4:09:05 GMT
Ironside fetched a goblet of wine and drank deep from it to hide his amusement watching Hallewes dodge Morgause's various questions. He decided not to comment on Golrois' death at the hands of Uther, as that might force him to discuss the side he took in the war that took place after. He had no doubts that those that sided with King Vortigern were looked unkindly upon in these halls.
He choked on his wine when Morgause questioned Hallewes on the men she had bedded. This daughter of Cornwall was certainly bold. He liked that in a woman. Seeing the discomfort on Hallewes' face, the knight thought that perhaps it was the sorceress that needed to be prevented from killing others, and not himself.
Stepping in to cover Hallewes' discomfort, he answered Morgause"We will both be attending the Beltane fires. We look forward to witnessing how the holiday is celebrated in Camelot. Will I have the pleasure of seeing you there?"

Viviane gritted her teeth at the burgeoning quarrel between her sons. She would dearly have liked to intervene but their masculinity likely demanded they sort it out between themselves, even if they came to blows.
//////////
"Perhaps we do," Morgan said with a laugh. "But I still wish he was ten years younger and handsomer too! I don't think that is so very wrong. But you are right, my dear. A husband and a lover are not necessarily the same.
////////
"Merlin has the right of it," Gaius agreed with a nod. "Age comes to all of us, if we live so long, and we all mean to do what we can to make sure you live to old age, sire, though we may not be here to see it."
Arthur smiled and said "I know you will. I value the loyalty of my friends, but it seems so strange when I am only sixteen that I will have grey hair one day! I bet you felt the same when you were young, Merlin?"
///////
"You will see me there but whether it will be a pleasure for you, I could not say," Morgause replied, a little distantly. "I did not know the celebration rites were different in other places."
////////
A teenage boy, the King's squire, hurried over to Mordred and bowed hurriedly.
"Sir, I am reminded that King Arthur invited you to sit beside him at today's feast. It is a great insult to refuse the invitation of a king," he said breathlessly.

Mordred looks to the boy, "By the sword can't a man even have a drink first." Standing and downing the last of the goblet and passing it to the squire, "Take me to my brother."

The boy took the empty vessel.
"Sir...I meant no offence. The King is in conversation with Merlin at presence but I was told to remind you of His Majesty's invitation before it was noticed by those who heard him speak to you in the Throne Room."
He led the way through the feast hall until they were standing before Arthur, still in conversation with Merlin and Gaius.

Ironside knew when he was being toyed with, but kept the irritation from showing on his face.
"I wish you were more certain, for I am most pleasurable company in the right setting. As for the rites, in my homeland it is a much more primal affair. Since in England, I have never had the opportunity to participate in the celebration with others. I hope it to be a memorable event."

"Hush now boy, don't let the others hear!", Merlin replied to Arthur in mock alarm, "I can't have word getting around that I was once a youth. I might lose my aura of mystery. I'm sure some at court believe I sprung into being an old man with horns and a forked tail."

"Oh, I'm sure it will be," Morgause said with a grin. "But I make no promises. It might be that I find someone else takes my fancy. But I am curious now, what is the right setting for you?"
//////
Arthur laughed and even Gaius raised a smile.
"I have never seen your horns or tail, Merlin. You must keep them well hidden," Arthur said.
He spotted Mordred "And welcome, Sir Mordred. Please be seated."

"If one of these boy knights is found more worthy of a lady's affections, then I will be greatly shamed. I am a passionate man and thrive in settings in which I don't have to stifle my passions." Ironside replied simply, knowing that the better part of a more descriptive answer would likely scare the girl away again.
