Dinadan scanned the enemy army, trying to determine how it compared to Arthur's.

He estimates that the besieging army is larger than Arthur's, perhaps by a third, but then, Arthur has not been joined by his closest allies yet, because of the distance.

"What shall we do now, your highness?" Dinadan asked Arthur, unsure if they could defeat the army assembled before them.

"Send a messengner demanding their surrender, I suppose. We should at least try peace terms."

"I doubt they'll surrender when their force of of a greater size than ours." Dinadan pointed out. "But I suppose it is worth a try."

"I fully expect at least some of my allies to send men," Arthur replied. "And besides, if we were to engage them so that the men of Cameliard could attack, they wouldn't have so much of an advantage."

"Yes, I just don't see how they would know we have more men on the way." Dinadan replied. "If they think this is our entire army, they will probably believe they can defeat us."

"No, I suppose your plan is the best one available to us." Dinadan said after a moment. "Although would it be possible to use magic to make our army seem larger than it is?"

Arthur laughed.
"Perhaps. We must have a few sorcerors with us who are skilled enough to answer that question. I certainly don't know myself. If Merlin were here, or Morgan, they surely could. But there might be somebody else who can do it. You could make enquiries on my behalf, if you are willing?"

"Yes, where might I find the druids?" Dinadan asked.

"They will be at the rear of the army," Arthur explained. "Because some of the knights don't trust one with magic."

Dinadan nodded. "I shall try to find out if any are capable of performing what we require."
With that, he rode toward the rear of the army, in search of the druids.

He found a group of men and women , perhaps a dozen of them, gathered together and chatting among themselves. He hadn't spent enough time with the druids to know who was their leader but several of them were older and looked distinguished.
