Arthur considered for a while,
"Maybe in the baggage train? We use blunted weapons for training but I don't know if we're likely to carry such things with us. Perhaps one of the druids or sorcerors can help though? If there's even spare blades they could enchant them, maybe, so they are blunted, or don't do much damage."

"I would rather not disturb the Druids. I will search for the swords we require in the baggage train." Dinadan replied.

Arthur nodded.
"Of course. I shall wait for you."

Dinadan mounted his horse and rode off toward the baggage train.

The baggage train was behind the rest of Arthur's army. It was surrounded by men and boys and even by a few women who had chosen to accompany their men. The inevitable casualties of a march were here too, men who had fallen sick or were otherwise injured. The baggage train also held the army's supply of portable food and drink as well as spare weapons and quivers of arrows and the like.

Dinadan searched around for someone who appeared to be in charge.

The commander of the baggage train was a grizzled old knight, a one-eyed veteran of the wars with Vortigern, who didn't look fit enough to fight yet clearly longed to be of use. He had obviously been given the post as a boost to his pride. Dinadan didn't know him personally but he knew the man's name to be Sir Degrevant.

"Sir, the king was wondering if you have any blunted swords." Dinadan said, approaching him.

"We brought along a few, for those who wish to train in the evenings and the like, but not many,"! Sir Degrevant replied.

"May I borrow two of them?" Dinadan asked. "They will be returned to you shortly."

The old knight nodded solemnly.
"You must sign to say that you have taken them and then you may do so."
He scrawled something near illegibile on a scrap of paper and held it out to Dinadan. Clearly he was the kind of man who liked to keep records.

Dinadan did not bother to waste his time attempting to read it. Instead he simply scrawled his name on the paper. "I'll have them returned to you when we are done with them." he told the man.

"Thank you. Try not to be too long," the old knight said.

Dinadan took two of the swords, before returning to Arthur and Palomides.

"Oh, you have them?" Arthur said, beaming. "Do the two of you need some time to warm up?"
