"I'll leave that decision to you, Sir." Dinadan told Palomides, offering him one of the blades.

"No," Sir Palomides replies. He grasps the blade by the hilt and swings it twice to get a feel for its balance. It is heavier than he would prefer, but it will serve. "When you are ready, Sir," he nods to Dinadan.

Dinadan stepped back, not wanting to allow Sir Palomides to begin the fight right next to him. Satisfied with the distance between them, he gives the foreign knight a nod.

The moment Dinadan nods, Palomides rushes forward, seeking not to injure the other man but to strike a decisive blow that will prove his skill.

(OOC: I was thinking it would probably be fairest to have it rolled, but whatever Morgan says is fine.)

After the fight, Arthur applauds the combatants.
"Well done! That was very well fought, both of you! But I am sorry I ever doubted you, Sir Palomides."

Dinadan nodded. "Indeed, well fought Sir." he massaged one of the spots where Palomides had landed a blow, the swords hadn't been real, but it still hurt like hell.

"You as well, Sir." The Saracen sets the awkward practice sword down, then looks at Arthur. "It is no matter, my lord. I have also met many men who are better at talking about their skill than demonstrating it."

"Of course, we all have," Arthur said. "I mostly just feel sad when I meet men like that. They obviously feel the need to prove something. But you have done yourself proud, Sir Palomides. So did you, Dinadan.
He smiled at t them both.
"There was a moment when I thought Dinadan was going to win. As skilled as you are, Palomides, I think I would be the most irresponsible king in Christendom if I let the fate of the allied countries be decided upon a single duel."

"A duel need not be fought to decide the outcome of the battle, my lord," Palomides replies. "Unless they do not fight duels simply for honor's sake in your land?" He asks curiously.

"Of course wedo," Arthur said. "I haven't, myself, but I'm told it's quite common for knights on a quest to engage one another. During my father's reign, they often used to challenge one another to the death, but I would prefer any such fights not to result in the death of warriors who are more use to us alive."

"Well, I had best return these blades." Dinadan interjected.

"Yes, perhaps you'd better," Arthur agreed. "And in the morning we shall hear our answer. At least I hope so."
