"Oh, and what do you intend to do now"? Morgan asked Mordred. "Will you be coming with us on our quest?"
//////////
Morgause laughed,
"Oh. anything except old lovers. Tell me why it is that you serve your lady rather than joining the knights here at Camelot."
//////
"You flatter me," Viviane countered. "Yet I do try to be kind to all I meet. That is the way of the druids, or should be. Druids are but men and women and prey to the same faults and fears of all mankind."

Mordred breath slowed as Morgan asked the question, "To be truthful to you Morgan I am not sure. I desire to speak with Arthur before hand. I have some questions that I wish to put forth to him."

"I owe Lady Hallewes my life. She gave me purpose when I had none and a path when I had lost my way. At the time, few would have accepted the services of a man with my...history. I would have no place here." he replied, careful not to reveal too much.

"One more thing they have in common with their Christian brothers." Merlin replied with a smile.

"Oh? Well, you will have to be swift, Mordred. The meeting is to be tomorrow at noon," Morgan pointed out. "What kind of questions would those be, if I may ask?"
////
"Oh. But how long ago was that? I could understand if it was Uther but Sir Ector is a good man and surely he would have welcomed you, as would Arthur," Morgause said. "Unless you did something very wicked?"
/////
"I agree. A man is a man, no matter which robes he wears, and women too. That is why I hate this division between us. We are all the same when our clothing is gone."

"I'd prefer to talk to Arthur before I begin to voice my opinion."

"To Arthur, but not to me? I am to accompany Arthur on his quest. Does my opinion not count?" She asked, sounding a little disappointed.

"Now I am not going to answer that question sister. But of course your opinion matters to me but Arthur the Kings is the opinion I am after."

"Care now, Lady Morgause, you're starting to sound like the Christians up in the Chapel. What does it mean to be wicked? According to them the enjoyment of carnal acts and living life in excess are wicked things. If that is the case then I am guilty as charged." he said, evading a true answer.
__________
"Truer words were never spoken, Lady Viviane, though I think the lack of clothes is where the Christians would take offense." Merlin replied with a laugh.

Morgause giggled.
"Maybe I am too, then. But I meant wicked in the way of a man, killing people for no good purpose, which is against the laws of Camelot."
/////////
"Yes, that is true. The Christians seem to wish we all stopped at the waist. Or at the neck in the case of women," Viviane said with a laugh. "It's most odd. Nature exists for a reason."

"No, never without a purpose, though the slain may claim otherwise if they could." the Red Knight answered truthfully, looking into her eyes for the first time all evening. "Enough on the past though. The gods would want us to concentrate on the present."

"There is certainly a time for modesty though. The trick is finding the balance between the two. It is in extremes that our problems lie." Merlin said, wondering if any of those in the Chapel would agree.

"Yes, perhaps they would," Morgause agreed. "Fortunately for you, Sir Ironside, my betrothed is not her."
She grinned at him.
"Oh yes. But I am not sure the Christians know how to compromise," Viviane sighed.

A little later, Viviane excused herself to begin the prayers. She stood in front of the gathered crowd, by the fires in the middle of the stone circle, and intoned the words with passion and solemnity. The participants were invited to join her in one of the prayers, there was dancing around the circle, with the worshippers invited to join hands, then there was the ritual passing of the mead from two cups, one starting at each side of the circle. This was followed by more prayers and dancing and then it was time for the revellers to separate off into their couples, go off for individual prayer or retire to their beds.

Merlin remained during the prayers, pouring a bit of his magic into the sacred words. The flames grew higher and changed color in a brilliant elemental display as the chants of the sorcerer and druids melded into one voice. As the revelers danced around him, he breathed deep, inhaling the magically charged air and feeling invigorated. When the second set of prayers had concluded, he gave a sigh of regret and departed, beginning the long ascent towards the Chapel for the end of the service. Arthur would note his absence if he was not present.

Ironside reveled in every aspect of the Beltane celebrations. He danced with Morgause around the roaring fires, basking in the heat as beads of sweat ran down the skin his open vest left bare. He felt in touch with the world around him, like a wild animal, powerful and free. The feeling was even more intoxicating than the thrill of battle. When the time for the fertility ritual arrived, he looked hungrily at Morgause and the beads of sweat running between her heaving bosom. He scooped her up in his strong arms and eagerly made his way towards a secluded area of trees and shrubbery.

Viviane watch Merlin go with a sigh. She wished he hadn't felt it necessary to go to the chapel but he had made his feelings plain; he wanted to encompass both faiths, for Arthur and for the realm. She could not argue with that.
////////
Morgause had always been a lusty woman and never more than when she was drunk on ritual with the power of nature flowing madly through her. That was why Beltane was her favourite festival. It was a time of fertility and she had always felt that. Once she and Ironside were away from the other revellers, she leaned up to kiss him hard before he could put her down.

Lamorak followed Melusine's lead dancing while the fires blazed around them. He was caught in the moment, blood coursing through his veins. He took the lead of the others as they left the fires, some finding seclusion whilst others just found an unoccupied patch of grass. His intention was for seclusion though the raging passion inside him took over so that he layed with her in the first open patch of grass that he found.
---------------------------------------
Diwrnach stayed near Lady Viviane throughout the prayer and dancing taking the opportunity to dance with the legend. When Merlin took his leave he eyed her lustily. "I would be most honoured to celebrate with you my lady unless you are otherwise spoken for." He spoke hopefully
