He was shown into the room, where Morgan greeted him, all smiles.
"My lord. Can I offer you a drink?"

Merlin arrives at the doorway to Morgan's solar. He had chosen not to accompany the knights on their grand adventure. His old bones had seen enough and Arthur would need to learn how to lead without his guidance one day. He found it bizarre to be serving as advisor to Arthur's half sister instead.
Archimedes perched on his shoulder and the old wizard admitted he was glad to see his companion.
"Did anything of note occur while I was away?" he mentally asks the bird while waiting for the door to be answered.

*Hardly* said Archimedes. *One of the knights has gone into exile. A bad man. He is not missed.*
Morgan offered Uriens a cup of mead as her servant opened the door to Merlin. The woman bowed.
"Sir Merlin, welcome."
She eyed Archimedes with some anxiety. Morgan, however, was all smiles.
"Do sit down Merlin," Morgan cried. "King Uriens and I were about to have a drink."
She indicated the cups and the flagon of mead.

Merlin accepted the offered cup of mead gratefully.
"I find the older I get, the harder it is to turn down an offered drink." he said with a chuckle.
"I congratulate you both on your upcoming nuptials." he said through a kind smile. "May you do as much good for each other in your union as you do for the realm."

"Thank you for your kind words," Morgan said at once. "I have high hopes that Uriens and I are well suited to one another. For myself, I hope that my own happiness will run in tandem with the realm's prosperity. And what of you, Merlin, what shall you do now?"

Urien did not speak, but took Morgan's hand and held it in his. He kept his face blank of any emotion though, exuding the warmth of stone.

"Well spoken, Lady Morgan, well spoken indeed." Merlin replied with a smile.
"As for myself, I will remain and advise as always. When the day comes that I am no longer needed, perhaps I will retire to my abode in the Forest Sauvage. Or perhaps there are other realms for wants of the wisdom of a tired old man."

Morgan's eyes widened.
"Other realms, Merlin? But we would be sorry to see you go. Everyone would. I cannot imagine a world in which your counsel would not be heeded. You're the chief sorceror of this court. I am not arrogant enough to assume I might take your place, and besides, I must divide my time between Camelot and Gore. But you know, perhaps you can teach Arthur's children, and my own, the same things you taught my dear brother."

"Other realms..and other times." he thought to himself.
"You'll make an old man blush if you continue with your praise." Merlin said with a twinkle in his eyes. "As I said, I will remain as long as I am needed."
"Now is there anything you require of me in Arthur's absence?"

"Yes," she said. "Perhaps there is. I have decided to send Sir Tristram off on a raid to plague our foes on their borders. Perhaps you could accompany him and use your powers to cause extra confusion."
She turned and looked at Uriens.
"Perhaps you could go too, my lord."

"Not just him," Morgan said. "I mean to send men-at-arms with him. Perhaps if you go, you could take your entourage along."

"I do," she said. "Not that I particularly wish to deny myself your company, but it's the ideal time for us to strike a blow against the invaders. Naturally I wish my lord to have a part in it. Who knows how far north the Anglo-Saxons will reach, if we do not stop them. Your lands too might one day be threatened."
