"Nothing comes without a price," she said. "Surely you know that by now?"

"It is a lesson I've lived by my whole life." Ironside said with a nostalgic grin, remembering his time as a mercenary. "Though I doubt a creature such as yourself could require much from a simple man like me."

"Oh yes? There is one thing we nymphs always seek from mortal men. Can you guess what it is?"
She moved closer still/

"I am not a man with the patience for games, my lady." he said not unkindly. "I have heard the tales of the nymphs' appetites though."

"It's linked to that, yes. So, are you willing to lay with me to save your lady?"

Ironside laughed despite the serious nature of the situation.
"You could have simply asked. I have never been one to turn down a willing woman. This hostage situation was hardly necessary. As I said, I am a simple man." he said, a little incredulously.

She laughed again and took his sword from his hand before he could stop her. She kissed the blade and it turned into a long-stemmed flower.
"That's better. It wasn't a hostage situation. Your lady has gone to see my father. That is what she wished, is it not?"

He looked with amazement as his red steel weapon was made harmless. He still had the seax at his belt, though he expected it would prove just as dangerous to the being of the fay. He glanced down at the unconcious body of Hallewes, unconvinced.
"I admit I am ignorant in the ways of magic, but my lady does not appear to be seeing anyone at the moment?"

"Of course not. That is not how it works. Her mind roams, nonetheless. She will remember, when she wakes. You have a choice. Either you can wait for her, or you can enter my father's castle. In which case the price will be higher."

"How much higher?" he asked curiously, eager to ensure his lady's safetly.

"Five years of your life," she said at once. "I will take them from you and you will simply grow older when you wake."

"And here I was hoping you just had more sister's to share me with." Ironside said with a smirk.
"Will I receive any benefits other than passage to the castle in exchange for my years?" he asked, eyes shining with lust for power.

"I have many sisters but you can't have them all. That would be more like rewarding you," she scolded. "Other benefits...hmm..maybe. Perhaps you shall grow a little stronger. But we shall see."

"You may feel like rewarding me after I am done with you." Ironside countered with a sly grin.
"That is not reassuring, but I have never been one to expect the comforts of living to a ripe old age. Better a short life full of wonders. Very well, I agree to your terms."
He glanced back at Alfred and gave a wolfish grin. "Unless of course I can offer all the Saxon's years in place of 5 of mine for the boon?"

"That would be paying more than your due. And I doubt the Saxon would agree to it," she said. "And what of your lady? Would she?"
