"Think nothing of it. We all did what we had to. We saved a lady from a horrible death, and from the horror of having to kill her own sister. That was definitely worth doing," Gawain replied. "And we are all safe now,."

"As safe as we can be." Dina corrected. She thought for a moment. "I never asked you, why did you agree to this quest Sir?"
Her head cocked to the left as she waited for his answer.

Gawain smiled.
"It's an adventure and that is all I desire. Well, not all, but it's my chief desire, to be sure. I'm not a stay at home kind of man. I like to travel and see new sights, and fight new foes. Does that answer your question?"

"It does." Dina answered. She stood and shook her leg to stop it from falling asleep.
She resat and crossed her legs.
"This is the first and most probably last adventure that I will have." She said with a smile.

He paused in his sharpening to look up at her.
"Why is that, Dina? Why shouldn't you have more adventures?"

"Why would I?" Dina said, "Once this is done I will be expected to pretend that I am once again interested in mundane things. My father disliked me agreeing to this enough."

Gawain merely smiled.
"I hear that's not uncommon when a man has a taughter. Sons tend not to have that problem. But there is an answer to that, Dina, if you don't wish to live a common life."

"And what is that Sir?" Dina asked him.

Gawain smiled.
"Marry me. My wife would never have to fear being left at my castleto live a common life, unless she wished it so."

Dina hesitated for a moment "Marry you?" she repeated

"Yes. I'm deadly serious, Dina. I'd be kind to you and never force you to do anything you disliked."
For once, Gawain wasn't smiling as he spoke. There was complete earnestness in both his voice and his face. He meant what he said.
"You must have noticed that I more than like you."

"I know you would Sir, and it would truly be an honour..." Dina said slowly she glanced over at the sleepiness men

Gawain resumed his sharpening but he kept looking at Dina.
"An honour? That's not what a man wishes to hear when he proposes marriage to a woman. You seen uncertain, Dina. Won't you tell me why? Have I spoken too soon?"

"No, it's nothing Sir. I really do like you." She gave him a weak smile "I don't know if I want to think of the future until it has arrived."

The solemn expression disappeared from his face as a wicked smile flashed up in its place.
"But the future can never come, my dear. That is its nature. And isn't that a profound thought for a rough warrior like myself? When this mythical day comes it will be the present. But how long must I wait before I ask you again?"
