Dinadan's blade swung at the wolf and cut into the black fur. The wolf yelped and backed away, still growling. Slaver dripped from its jaws. It seemed he would have to either fight it or chase it away somehow, unless Dina chose to risk her arrows or the others were in a position to join him. But the other wolf was circling around the Saxon prisoners and the others in the group were trying to trap it.

Dinadan, unnable to see Dina from the way he had positioned himself assumed that he would be forced to fight the wolf alone. He gritted his teeth and began to advance towards the wolf.

Tristram had been sleeping lightly, but at Dinadan's call, he eyes snapped open. Grasping for his sword, he saw pairs of yellow eyes, immeditately grasping that their camp was under attack by wolves. He move swiftly to stand by Dinadan's side.

The black wolf slumps down dead. It has now been completely hacked to pieces. If anyone wanted a wolfskin cloak from the largest beast, they'd be sorely disappointed. Arthur runs over to where Merlin, Dina and Rowena stood.
"Oh God, that was some fight! I thought he was going to get us for sure!"

Dinadan frowned at the dead beast. His side was bleeding where the wolf had clawed him.
"It seems odd that the wolves would attack us." he commented.

Gawain nodded.
"Aye, but wolves are dangerous beasts. Do you suspect supernatural origin?"

Dina was staring at the dead wolf, upset that she had let it pass.
"I am so sorry Sire, my attention was over there."

Only paying attention to one side of the camp seemed a tad foolish to Dinadan, but he said nothing, no one had been seriously hurt after all. His side was bleeding noticeably he did not think it was too serious.
"Perhaps..." he said in reply to Gawain. "But I know very little of the supernatural so I am not the one to ask."

"It doesn't matter," Arthur said. "You have only one pair of eyes, Dina. Don't worry. We will know to take more care in future. Do you want to continue the watch or have someone else do so?"

"I can keep a look out." Dinadan offered. "I can't imagine I'll fall asleep any time soon."

"Thank you, Sir Dinadan. I appreciate that."
Arthur smiled tiredly and returned to his blankets, calling over his shoulder "Merlin, you can stop the fire around the captives now."

Tristram moved over to his friend and put a friendly hand on his shoulder.
"You're hurt. You should rest and rebuild your strength for what is to come. I will keep watch in your stead."

Dinadan nodded. "I do not know if I'll be able to sleep, but I suppose I should try."
He had several cuts to show from his recent fights, and Tristram was right, he did need the rest.
