This one was a thin greenish paste, a salve that could be spread on wounds to help them heal. When Iseult uncorked the bottle, she noticed the minty scent Gauis' book mentioned. Ther were a variety of other healing salves but this one seemed to be the physician's favourite.

A week or so later Iseult had made a fair study of the potions on the shelf and the information Gaius' book contained on them, including effects and ingredients, though not brewing. Gaius had a separate book listing the brewing process, since some of the potions were complex.

Iseult turned back to Gaius after having spent a good many hours in each day going through each potion carefully and put his book down on the table, "I think I have got at least most of the information in here down now in regards to the potions you have," Iseult said to the old man and smiled, she wouldn't claim to know it all, but she recalled a great deal.

""Good."
Gaius smiled warmly at her.
"Shall I give you a test?"

"Yes, If you would." Iseult said, with an almost child like grin of excitement, she liked tests and things, as ways to show herself that she had indeed learnt things, but never wanted to bother people by it, so mostly tested herself, which made the whole act redundant.

"Very well then. Your first question, my dear, is, what is this?"
He held up the blackish-purple poison.

"That is Wolfsbane, dissolved in alcohol." Isuelt said, fairly certain of her answer, "In sufficient doses it can cause deaths nearly instantly, but usually signs of poisoning include vomiting and burning sensations on the face and in the mouth and stomach. Symptoms that are both present in fatal and not fatal cases include confusion and unexplained sweating."

Well done. Show me a sleeping draught."

Iseult went to the shelvesof potions and found the milky one with the green tint that she thought was one of the less potent sleeping draughts.

"Excellent," Gaius replied as he took the vial from her. "One last question. What herb scents the green healing salve?"

Iseult was surprised by this question and had to think right back. She was unsure though, unlike with the first two where she had been very certain, she had not paid too much attention to the smells. "Mint?" She asked with a slight frown.

"Correct. Well done, my dear. I think you will make a good healer if you learn everything else as well as your study of my potions. Woud you like to learn to prepare them?"

"Yes, please." Iseult said with a happy smile, it seemed like brewing would be a good thing for someone to learn if they wanted to be a healer. "if you have the time to show me, of course."

"Of course I do, but you will have to be content with learning as I require potions. I keep a stock but it must be replenished as it's used. At present I have some salves to brew."

"I am fine with learning anything you can teach me," Iseult said with a smile, "Would you like me to help you with them, or just watch for now?"

"A bit of both, I think. I keep my herbs in drawers. You can fetch them for me as I need them and watch as I prepare the mixtures."
