Arthur nodded and stood then held out his hands to Mordred to help him up.
"Then risem, Sir Mordred, friend of Camelot. I will look into finding you a keep of your own. Tell me, where were you raised? Here in Dumnonia?"

Taking the offered hand Mordred stands. Swepping back his long black hair and looks at the young King, "Yes born in a small village not a days ride from these walls. But it no longer exists it was all burnt down. I was the only surviver, our father found me."

"That is tragic, but you were lucky our father found you," Arthur replied. "So you would perhaps prefer your keep to be situated within our own lands, brother?"

"I'm pleased to hear that. It will require an investigation so you must be patient. In the meantime, how is it that we have never met until now?"

"After our fathers death I left Camelot." Mordred's glance went to Merlin to see if he had anything to say on that matter, then not caring Mordred continued, "I felt it was best for me not to be here during that time. Word finally reached me some months ago that my brother had been crowned King so I have returned."

"I see. It is unfortunate you did not come sooner. There was some doubt in my mind whether you would swear fealty to me," Arthur replied. "But I thank you for not trying to steal the throne that Merlin tells me was always meant for me. I will not forget that. I would have your friendship as well as your loyalty."

"You are Uther's lawful son I am simply the son of a blacksmiths daughter who through misfortune was acknowledged that Uthers blood flows in me. We are brothers Arthur I shall always stand behind you."

"I am glad to hear it. I never knew my siblings growing up but I am making amends for that now. I have Kay, and I have my sisters, and now you, as well as Merlin, Sir Ector and my mother. We shall be as one family."
Arthur spoke with obvious pleasure. Family was important to him, especially since he had never known his true parents in childhood.
"May I ask who knighted you, Mordred?"

"Sir Boon a man of our father's. I squired for him while I lived here not long after you were feared dead. Knighted days after my 15 birthday. Our father was very proud of me and gave me the sword I still wear at my hip."

"You are indeed honoured. I have it in mind to create a new order of knighthood here at Camelot. Once I have the measure of your skills, it might be that you will be invited to join this order," Arthur confided.

"Of course." Mordred bowed his head, "Now I must ask to be able to retire to some rooms. I have been on the road for quiet sometime and am tired." Smiling down at Arthur with a glint in his eyes, "Now that we have met each other and I have sworn an oath I would desire to be off with this armour and sleep."

"Of course. My servants will allocate you a room. I must resume the council meeting in any case," Arthur replied. "I am pleased we have met."
