She leaned in close and touched his arm with her fingertips.
"But what have the knights done that is so disgraceful? I can't think of anything. They all seem most gallant to me."

Galahad stepped back so quickly it may have looked to an observer as if she had attacked him. "Are you not betrothed, my Lady?" He asked, struggling between politeness and disgust.

"Again you are too kind. I wanted to pay my respects as soon as I arrived. With your permission I will take my leave and make myself proper for court." he said to the king

Morgause smiled boldly at the knight and leaned still closer.
"I am, but not married yet and Beltane is almost upon us. Do you not feel the power of springtime in your blood?"

Arthur nodded.
"Of course. You may go and rest, Sir Lamorak. I will see you soon enough."

Merlin listened to the exchange between King Arthur and Sir Lamorak with veiled interest. In actuality, he had found from the corner of his eye, that the scene playing out between Sir Galahad and Lady Morgause was much more entertaining.
The knight had all the discomfort of a mouse cornered by hungry cat and Merlin had to stifle a chuckle. It would do him no favors to disrespect the boy so, especially one as prickly about his honor as Sir Galahad. Merlin had neither the youth or patience for a duel.

Sir Ironside and Hallewas entered the throne room amid a storm of fervent whispers. The Red Knight stood to Hallewas' side as a silent sentry, allowing her to do all the talking. She had been the one summoned by the king after all. He carried his red helmet in the crook of his arm and surveyed those present with cold eyes, trying to determine which of the child knights in attendance would be the greatest threat if violence broke out.

Hallewes pulled her hood down and waited for acknowledgement.

Murmurs broke out amid the court as Hallewes was announced. Arthur held up a hand for silence.
"Lady Hallewes, be welcome to our court. Sir Kay will see to your chambers but is something that must be done before you may retire. I have not had oaths of fealty from yourself or your companion. I will have them now."

Merlin turned his interest from Galahad and Morgause at the announcement of Hallewas. She was a known user of dark magic and could prove incredibly dangerous if provoked. Arthur immediately demanding the sorceress' oath may have been reckless. The wizard adopted a rare serious countenance as he gripped his rowen-wood staff tightly.

Hallewes gave a faint smile "But of course."
Her eyes flicked to Ironside then back. She gave the oath quietly finding it safer then living in Arthurs kingdom without it. He was painfully aware of where her home was situated.

Arthur nodded and then looked to Ironside.
"Thank you, Lady Hallewes. Sir Ironside, I require your oath also."
He needed them to make their oaths where all present could see.

Sir Ironside stubbornly remained on his feet at first, until he caught Hallewas' eyes darting to his own. Reluctantly, he took a knee and said his oath. He had said countless oaths to countless rulers during his time as a mercenary, but never before had it pained him so. Swearing to serve the adolescent son of the king that had taken everything from him left a foul taste in his mouth. But at the end of the day they were just words, easily said and easily broken.

"Rise," Arthur commanded when the words had been said. "And be welcome to my hall, both of you."
The steel was gone and the smile appeared once more as Arthur relaxed.

Hallewes was highly amused by the atmosphere in the room.
It tickled her that these people thought her that dangerous before they ha met her. Secretly she was very pleased

Sir Lamorak rose then bowed taking a few steps before turning. As he began walking his eyes caught sight of Morgause. Why had the king not mentioned her? Sure she was betrothed but what did that matter to him. Betrothals could be broken. She seemed to be flirting with a very uncomfortable Sir Galahad whose attire was pristine. Lamorak gave her an appraising look then chuckled softly before scanning the rest of the room.
He stopped and watched as a woman and her red armored knight entered. They made an interesting pair, one worthy of watching closely. He listened to the exchange then lost interest. He caught Merlin's eye and nodded before making his way from the room.
