Hallewes gave a strange look at the wine before drinking it all. She closed her eyes to stop herself from doing something like throwing up before handing it to Meldryn and slowly laying.

He looked sternly at Ironside.
"Guard us well, sir. Our lives are in your hands now, should we be attacked by wild beasts or the natives of this land. We can defend ourselves in the spirit world, but we cannot use our bodies to fight danger in the world of men."
He then filled up the cup with the potion and drank it down. He lay down beside Hallewes.
"The potion will help to relax your mind. Keep your eyes closed and repeat these words after me."
The words he said sounded like nonsense. Neither Hallewes nor Ironside recognised it as the tongue of the Britons, or of the Romans or even of the Irish. Nor, indeed, was it the tongue of the Saxon invaders. It sounded old and strange and mysterious,

Hallewes kept her eyes tightly closed as she repeated the words that he had said.

As they said the chant, Hallewes found her mind drifting. Her body felt light, as if she were floating. She started to fall asleep. Beside her, she could hear Meldryn breathing deep as he chanted.

Hallewes was a little shocked by the sensation. The last time that she had entered the world was sudden.

After a while, she seemed to black out. When she regained her senses again, she was in a world where everything seemed pale and washed out. Except one. Meldryn Mawr appeared. His form in this world was bright and shining, and he was no longer the old man she knew. He was tall and strong, slender and long-limbed. This was clearly how he had looked in his youth.
"Hallewes."
She felt rather than heard him speak to her. He beckoned her over to him where he stood in a semblance of the forest their bodies lay in.

Hallewes moved over to him, blinking as she looked around.
"I cannot remember it being like this." She said.

"It was not the same," he said. "The land of the fay is not the same as the spirit world. I simply used it as an example you would comprehend."
She noticed that she seemed to float rather than walk.
"See your knight there, and there are our bodies."
He indicated Ironside standing guard over their prone bodies. Both looked as if they were asleep.
"Now, we need to find the village. You can see the land around us, though it is partially indistinct, because this is not the material world."

"Ah." Hallewes said. "The druid said that it was directly south."

"Then we shall go south."
He took her hand and led the way south. They moved through the trees, which gradually thinned out. They saw no dangers on the way. And then they saw a river.

"it looks so different." Hallewes commented as they moved.

"You will get accustomed," he told her. "Now, see, though we can see the river, we will not have to find a bridge."
He led her over to the river and directly through it, or so it seemed. Their feet did not get wet at all, seeming to pass through the water until they stood on the other side. They could see squat buildings in the distance."

"The village... as the druid said." Hallewes commented.

"It seems so. I think we have seen enough," he told her. "If you are ready to return to your body? I warn you, it will be unpleasant."

"We have to eventually anyway." Hallewes replied. "Is there a time before we can do this again?"
