"You cannot do it straight away, of course, because of the shock, and because our bodies will be weak with exhaustion when we return to them. In theory, you could do it every day but it would destroy you in the end. It is best not to do it very often," Meldryn warned.

"So once say each week at a push and only in an emergency."

"Yes, though I would not recommend as much as once a week while you are inexperienced. Your body needs to become accustomed," he said.

"Hopefully I will not be too inexperienced for long." Hallewes commented as she got ready to return to her body.

"I am sure not, but I must advise caution and ask that you do not enter this world alone as yet."
He stopped to look seriously at her.
"Time to return to your body. Do you see behind us? The cords?"
Sure enough, indistinct silvery cords extended from their incorporeal bodies back in the distance they had come.
"Hold the cord and follow your way back to your body, as if it were a rope. When you reach your body, you must will yourself back into it. You will feel a sharp jolt and probably nausea, but you must not hold back else you will be trapped here."

"Trapped here?" She asked interestedly as she followed her cord.

Post by Sir Ironside/Merlin on Jun 18, 2012 13:33:01 GMT
Ironside stood as a silent sentry watching over his unconscious comrades. He had held his tongue during most of the journey, having a strong dislike of boats a and preferring to let those with magic deal with the Druids. In truth all this spirit world venturing and dark arts was far outside his experience, but the promise of power was too tempting.
He sharpened his seax with a whetstone while waiting for his lady and their mentor to awake, keeping a watchful eye out for intruders.

"Yes, if the mind is trapped here, you would become an imbecile and, in time, die," Meldryn warned.
He moved swiftly, keeping an eye on Hallewes to make sure she did likewise.
Ironside, meanwhile, could see that the two sorcerors lay as if sleeping peacefully. There was no difference at all in their behaviour.
In the distance, he heard the usual noises of a forest, animal cries and leaves rustling. But nothing out of the ordinary. Not yet.

"So if someone was to cut the cord, would you become lost here?" Hallewes asked

"You would die," he said sharply. "That is how sorcerors fight in this world. There are ways to combat that, but we have yet to meet a hostile sorceror here, so ther will be time for that later. In the world of men we have your knight to protect us, and we have our powers."
But there was no time for further conversation as they were back at their bodies.
"Tug sharply on your cord and will yourself into your body," he instructed. "You had best go first."

Hallewes seemed to consider something before she pulled the cord sharply.

She felt a massive jolt and everything went black. The next thing she knew, she was lying on her back on the grass and felt a strong urge to vomit.

She flipped over to her side and gulped at the air to try and stop herself from vomitting, her eyes tightly closed

Meldryn sat beside her, watching.
"Let it out, girl, its best," he said. "You will feel better afterwards."

Hallewes threw up, careful not to get it on her blanket.
"The river..." She said weakly.
