Dina met no resistance as she started up the tower. There was a small landing and a door leading to the next floor, and more stairs heading upwards.
"Keep going," Gawain urged.

Dina nodded and continued up the stairs.

Nobody stopped her as she made her way up several flights of stairs to the top of the tower. Another door awaited her. She could Gawain behind her, breathing heavily in his exhausted and wounded state.

She stopped at the door, then slowly pushed it open

She found herself in a corridor, from which two doors led. A guard stood in front of one of them, arms folded across his chest.
"You my replacement?" He asked.

Dina nodded
She didnt speak, knowing that she had quite a girly voice and would be found out, she made a motion behind her back for Gawain to conceal himself.

Gawain fortunately stayed hidden. The guard was grinning.
"You may as well know that the King is in there with the princess. Her sister is in the other chamber. That one's locked, but this one ain't. King barred it from inside when he went in." Locked one door to unlock another."
He made a lewd gesture with his fingers and laughed at his own joke.

Dina smiled and stood to one side to let him through.

He tossed a ring of keys at her, opened the door and went down the stairs, whistling. Gawain came forward to Dina's side.
"I think we should let the girl out of the locked room first, before we disturb Vortimer. It might already be too late for her sister."

"Dont say that." Dina whispered back. She took off the tabard quickly. "Stand guard, Ill find the girl."
She undid her hair and suddenly looked very much a girl so as not to scare the princess. She walked to the locked door and tried to identify the key needed.

Gawain held his sword ready, in case the other door should open unexpectedly.
Dina saw that there were two keys on the ring but they looked fairly similar, and she wasn't experienced enough with locks and keys to identify them simply by looking. She would have to try one.

Dina picked the first one and tried it as quietly as she could.

Fortunately, Dina was in luck. The door swung open when she pushed it and then she saw that the room was comfortably furnished for someone of noble birth, though not as rich as those chambers usually assigned to a princess.
A blonde young woman stood by the bed. She was perhaps of an age with Dina herself, maybe younger, and pretty in a plump, girlish manner. She wore a crucifix about her neck and a simple blue dress that highlighted the colour of her eyes.

Dina smiled, then entered the chamber
"Princess?" She asked, shutting the door.

The girl nodded. Dina noticed that she held a wooden crucifix in her hands. There was a cross-shaped space on the wall, lighter than the stonework around it, where it had clearly hung.
"Don't come any closer," the girl warned in a shaky voice. "I'll hit you if you try anything."
