"There, you see, it will all work out well," Elaine said happily. "If only I had a twin sister, but, alas, I have only brothers. But it is most unChristian not to share and Sir Galahad seems like he is a very good Christian indeed."

"Yes, I did make him into a devout sheep, did I not?" Lancelot said, brightly, "You two seem very well suited to one another, perhaps I should move when he arrives?"

She looked at him with big eyes.
"But would you feel like I was rejecting you when it was me who sought you out? I wouldn't want to cause you pain, sir. And you are very handsome."

"I am only half as handsome as you are beautiful, but you saying such things alleviates any fear I had of being rejected, but my brother is very fragile, and I would always put his own happiness over my own," Lancelot lied looking deeply into Elaine's eyes.

"Oh. Then I will give him my attention, but I hope you and I can still be friends? I can't bear the thought of something not wishing to be my friend," Elaine said breathlessly, as if Lancelot had ensorcelled her with his gaze.

"We shall still be good friends I am sure, I only wish for you to be as happy as possible, My Lady. That is all any gallant knight could want." Lancelot replied with a dazzling smile.

"You are gallant indeed. Is the chapel not beautiful?"
She gestered all around at the high ceilings and the ornate crucifix and the elaborately illuminated bible on the lectern.

Galahad arrived and solemnly made his way over to Lancelot and Elaine. "Lady Elaine. Brother." Galahad said looking somewhat surprised. "I must admit Lancelot, I was unsure whether or not you would attend."

"I said I would. Let it never be said that Sir Lancelot of the Lake does not keep his word." He replied, with a straight and serious face and scooted over to let Galahad sit between them.

Galahad's look of surprise remained on his face, but he took the offered seat, sitting with impeccable posture. He smoothed out a non existent wrinkle, unsure of what to make of his brothers participation in the Christian ceremony.

Elaine smiled innocently up at him.
"Sir Galahad. It's wonderful to see you again. Your brother suggested I offer you my favour to wear on your quest."

A look of surprise would have crossed Galahads face had it not already been there. Lancelot giving up a chance to court a Lady and attending church? Things were becoming stranger by the minute. "It is wonderful to see you again as well, Lady Elaine." Galahad replied. "I would be honoured to accept your favour. Although please do not feel obliged to adhere to my brothers suggestion, it is your favour after all, not his."

""Yes, but I like you very well and I would rather give it to someone who appreciates it than someone who does not," she replied. "And you are such a good Christian and I like that a lot. Oh, please take it."
She unwound her girdle, a pretty length of blue silk with gold thread embroidered all round the edges, and timidly handed it to Galahad.

"Thank you, my lady." Galahad smiled. "I am honoured that you deem me worthy of your favour, and I shall strive to not to disappoint you." Galahad carefully wound her favour around his arm.

Elaine's expression was sunny as she watched him.
"It looks very good," she said. "Blue and gold suit you, Sir Galahad. Blue is the colour of the Mother of Christ, I remember. If you find it, the Holy Grail, I mean, will you bring it back to show me?"
