Galahad sang richly, and was surprised to find Elaine singing better than he was. Galahad was used to being the best in all things related to church, and was not used to being outdone.

Lancelot neither sang nor prayed. One because he didn't know the words to the wongs, and two because he was not of christian faith and being in a hall of christians, they should be praying themselves and wouldn't even notice him not joining in. It was perfect. He stood and sat and knelt in time with everyone, and was fairly certain it was the most boring night in his entire life. It was pleasant hearing elaine sing though, and always fun to hear arthur.

Following the council meeting, Galahad goes to the chapel to pray. He cannot help but wonder if their quest would have been more successful had the pagans not been in attendance.

Several other Christians of the court are there and eye Galahad with curious expressions, waiting to see if he would like to speak to them after his prayers are done. They included Sir Ector, Lady Elaine of Astolat and Igraine, the Queen Mother.

Upon finishing his prayer, Galahad noticed the glances of those in attendance. He did not know Igraine very well, and had seen Ector at the council meeting, so it seemed that the proper place to start would be Elaine, who had given him her favor to wear. He had tried to both wear it throughout the quest, and keep it pristine, but that had proven difficult. Particularly due to the vast quantities of blood it had absorbed following his fight with the bandits.
Galahad quietly approached her, careful not to disturb the others in attendance.

The young girl smiled warmly at the knight, remembering him well from before the quest.
"Sir Galahad," she said in a too-loud whisper that drew glares from her father and several others. "Oh, so sorry! Hello, sir! I'm so pleased to see you back. Did you do lots of heroic deeds when you were gone? I prayed that you would."

"I fought some bandits that were terrorizing some peasants." Galahad replied. "But I'm afraid we were unable to find any treasures. Likely because my brother and Morgan made little contribution to the quest and hindered it's progress at every turn."

Elaine seemed confused.
"Oh, that's horrid. But I don't understand. I thought both of them wanted to find the treasures too? Why would they go if they did not want to find anything>"

"I do not know, the efforts they made to do anything of worth were minimal at best. But perhaps there are other reasons for our failure as well. It is possible that we were kept from the treasures because they are not followers of the true faith." Galahad sighed. "I hope you are not disappointed you offered your favor to me. I can return it if you wish." He said, producing it and offering it to her.

Her eyes widened.
"Oh no! You must keep it, sir. Unless you don't wish to be my champion any more. I don't understand about pagans, truly. Or about sacred treasures. I just thought you all came back because of the evil men attacking us. All I know is that if you trust in God, you will find what you seek. One day."

"Oh, I'm glad. I just thought that you might have been disappointed with me." Galahad replied, retying the blood stained favor to his arm. "You are right about the evil men I suppose, they are why we returned. Although they are Christian at least, which is more than can be said about some of Arthur's subjects."

"Oh, are they? I didn't know that. But they are still the bad men and your brother is your kinsman. He can't be more evil than the bad men," Elaine said innocently. "But I don't understand why they took our lands from us. We didn't do anything to them."
OOC - I believe the Anglo-Saxons are mostly still pagans at this point in history but I guess Galahad wouldn't necessarily know that

OOC: Oh, that's what I thought as well, but I'm sure I read somewhere on here that they were christian. Perhaps I'm wrong though.
Galahad shrugged. "When you are evil you don't need a reason to do things. But you needn't worry, Arthur will take back all of our land and that of our allies as well."

OOC - I started the site before I started to learn a little about them through studying Old English so I may well have got my information wrong. I'll have to check up on that when i have time, but it's probably not a big issue because it's not long before they started to convert so perhaps some can be Christian and some not. "Oh, I do hope so!" Elaine cried. "I know you will be there, sir, smiting them down with your great sword. It will be glorious!"

OOC: It could well be that I misremembered, in which case it would be an even smaller issue than it already is.
Galahad nodded. "Indeed it will, and I will be traveling with Arthur instead of Morgan, which makes me almost as happy as knowing I will be protecting the kingdom from the Saxons."
