Galahad finally stepped back. "I'm sure there is." Galahad agreed. "Most of the people here, yourself included are good Christians. You are just not the people I usually find myself in the company of."

"Oh, I know! I'm not a knight, nor could I ever be. I don't think it's proper for a lady to carry a weapon.. But you know, sir , when you are not on your travels, you could spend more time with those of us who try to be virtuous."
Her eyes were huge and filled with hope.

"Yes, I suppose I could. It is far more enjoyable than spending time with my brother and his companions." Galahad agreed.

"Oh, that would be lovely," she said. "I just wish you and your brother could be friends too. But that's not my business, I know. I will be happy so long as you and I can be friends."

"Excellent. I do hope you'll excuse me, my lady, but I believe Sir Ector may not be in the best condition at the moment, and I'd like to inquire as to his health." Galahad said, glancing over to where Ector had been to ensure he was still there.

"Of course, sir. Don't let me keep you."
She curtsied and left.
Sir Ector was still where Galahad saw him last, speaking with Elaine's father. He looked a little better than he had in the council meeting but was still a bit pale.

Not wanting to interrupt, Galahad glanced about to see if there was anyone not engaged in a conversation already.

Among those Galahad recognised were two priests, Bishop Sansum and the librarian, Geoffrey of Monmouth, as well as Queen Igraine.

Galahad moved over towards Geoffrey. "I am glad to see that even with all your duties you still find time for prayer." He said to the librarian. "It's more than many at Camelot can say."

"Indeed, sir. But God has been good to me and I owe Him thanks for my good fortune," Geoffrey replied. "Unfortunately, many men are not able to lead the life they desire. I have been blessed. I would not wish to live any other way. Ah, did you know, Sir Galahad, that you have acquired a reputation as the most pious knight of Camelot?"
Geoffrey smiled a little as he asked the question.

"I would be surprised if I was not known as such." Galahad confessed. "I rarely see any of the other knights anywhere near the chapel."

"That is unfortunate, I quite agree, but you know what knights are like, Sir Galahad. They think themselves immortal until they face death on the battlefield. Staring death in the face often makes men turn to God . Or gods, if they are pagan, but I have always believed the ancient gods of Britain to be different faces of God himself, made easier for the ancient peoples to comprehend."
Geoffrey's face was solemn.
"Your faith shines bright as a beacon but I must advise you not to think too hardly of those who lack your faith. They are not as strong as you. They need your sympathy and patience, so they may see that you follow the path of righteousness."

Galahad looked confused. "But if they are never shown they are wrong, how will they ever learn that they are?" He asked.

"You can set them a good example. But you cannot force them. They will never do as you wish if you try to make them," Geoffrey remarked. "Perhaps you might find a way to show them the benefits of the true faith."
