The boy took Galahad's hand and got awkwardly into the saddle. It was painfully obvious he had never sat a horse before. He didn't look too happy about it either.
"Please, sir, what are you going to do when you find the bandits? They forced themselves on my sister and made her their slave. I had to leave her behind," he whispered.

"We are not going to find the bandits. We are going to find your Lord so he can find the bandits." Galahad explained. "If we come across the bandits, I will fight them, but I have been ordered to avoid confrontation with them if possible. As such, the best chance of finding the bandits and as a result your sister lies with your lord, so the sooner we get there the better."

"Oh".
The boy fidgeted in the saddle.
"Don't let me fall off, sir. This is awfully high. Our lord is...he's just our lord. We has to do what he says. I seen him sometimes but he don't talk to boys like me. Bet he'll talk to you. You sound like a lord too. His home is that way."
He pointed in the direction.

Galahad wrapped his left arm around the boy to ensure he did not fall.
"I will return as soon as possible." He promised the old woman before riding off in the direction the boy had indicated.

The boy was quiet as they rode. Beyond the village, the landscape was sparse. After a short time they came to the fields where the villagers worked.
"This is wear the bandits attacked," the boy said, pointing. "They had horses. Our people could not resist. Our lord's hall is this way but it was too far for him and his men to see us attacked."

"You can stay on the horse." Galahad told the boy as he dismounted. "I'm going to have a look around and see if there's anything to be learned about these bandits."

The boy nodded. He sat wide-eyed on the horse and waited to see what Galahad would do next.

Galahad walked slowly around the area checking for anything that would give him information about the bandits.

There was nothing much present, just fields and crops and bentback villagers. It seemed like he would have to give up and then he found it. A golden coin, minted with the head of some Saxon king. It was certainly not a British or Roman coin.

It was certainly not a British or Roman coin. OOC - Gawain obtains Beginner Observation (OOC- I believe you mean Galahad?) Galahad examined the coin, wondering what to make of it. Perhaps the bandits were foreigners, but that made little sense to him. Why would men travel such a distance to raid such insignificant holdings. Galahad thought about it more. Perhaps the men were local, but their funding was not...Galahad rubbed his head. All this thinking was making his head hurt. He pocketed the coin and returned to the boy and the horse.

The boy's face was bright with curiosity as Galahad returned. Injuries aside, he did not look like the kind of peasant who had been worn down by life. At least not yet.
"What did you find, sir?"
As the boy was speaking, one of the farmers dropped his tools and ran up to them. His brown roughspun was ragged and dirty, his face marred with heavy bruising that gave him an odd appearance. A bandage poked out from his sleeve.
"Sir! What you doing with my boy on your horse? I beg you don't steal him! Are you one of them? They stole my girl already."
OOC - sorry, yes! I was playing Skyrim at the same time, my apologies!

"Steal him?" Galahad scoffed. "I am a knight of Arthur's court. This boy is taking me to your Lord, so I may warn him of the bandits."
"I found this." Galahad showed the coin to the boy. "Do you recognize it?"

The boy looked over at the coin, his eyes wide as saucers.
"No. That's gold, that is. I never seen a coin that weren't a copper before. It must be awful precious. We don';t have much need for coin here."
"Aye, 'tis true," the farmer agreed. "We barter. Never seen no gold coin. But it don't look like our coppers or silvers neither."

"Yes, I thought the same thing." Galahad agreed. "It seems foreign, perhaps your lord will know more."

"He might," the farmer agreed. "Our lord ain't richest o' lords, far as I know, but he ain't poor neither. He has gold coins, I know."
The boy said "You going to tell our lord to go kill them bandits, sir? They will kill us if they ain't stopped, for sure."
